📘 What Is the New Modern Version (NMV)?

The New Modern Version (NMV) is a faithful, modern Bible translation designed to clarify difficult words and expressions — especially for readers who may not have a background in biblical language, theology, or advanced reading skills.

NMV preserves the truth of God’s Word while making it clear and accessible. It focuses on what the text meant to its original audience and communicates that meaning in plain, modern language — without watering it down.

✝️ Translation Methodology & Faithfulness

Faithful to the Original Languages
The NMV is grounded in a deep respect for the original biblical texts. Every verse is translated directly from Koine Greek (New Testament) and, when expanded to the Old Testament, will be drawn from the Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts. The goal is to translate what was said, how it was meant, and how it would have been understood by the original audience.

Clarity Without Corruption
NMV is not a paraphrase. It does not simplify the Bible by removing difficult truths or replacing sacred meaning with shallow phrasing. Instead, it clarifies the meaning of Greek or Hebrew terms that are unfamiliar or misunderstood today—words like meek, repent, righteous, or mammon—in ways that preserve the original intent and theology.

No Doctrinal Insertion
The NMV does not inject personal or denominational bias into the text. While many translations are shaped by a theological framework (whether Calvinist, Catholic, Reformed, Charismatic, etc.), the NMV is deliberately neutral. The only goal is to let Scripture speak plainly, as close to the original meaning as language allows.

Meaning-Based, Not Tradition-Based
Where traditional phrasing may obscure meaning—such as idioms, figures of speech, or metaphors—NMV prioritizes the original intent behind those expressions. Instead of preserving outdated language that no longer communicates clearly, NMV translates the meaning behind the words, not just the words themselves.

Clarifications Marked Transparently
When explanation is needed for clarity, NMV uses brackets to provide cultural or historical context (e.g., [a term of contempt], [referring to spiritual blindness]). These additions are never used to reinterpret or override the meaning of Scripture, only to explain what was already there.

🔍 How the NMV Handles Metaphors

The Bible is rich in metaphor—images like “the eye is the lamp of the body” or “God is our rock” communicate profound truths. But metaphors lose impact when readers don’t understand what they meant in the original context.

NMV retains the metaphor but also clarifies its meaning in brackets where needed.

“The eye is the source of light for the body [referring to spiritual perception or moral focus].”
“Out of Egypt I have called My Son [symbolizing both Israel and Christ].”

When a metaphor’s visual meaning is clear, NMV lets it stand. But when modern readers might misunderstand (e.g., thinking that “meek” means weak), NMV gives just enough explanation to guide understanding without interpretation.

The goal is not to flatten the poetry of Scripture—but to make sure it speaks as clearly to today’s reader as it did to the original audience.

🧭 Our Mission

  • Make the Bible understandable for everyone
  • Remove barriers caused by outdated or uncommon words
  • Stay faithful to original Hebrew and Greek meaning
  • Share God’s Word freely and clearly

🔍 What Makes NMV Different?

  • Clarity over complexity: Words like meek, lament, and mammon are explained clearly or replaced with understandable alternatives.
  • No theological spin: NMV focuses on what the Bible says, not what traditions assume.
  • Brackets for clarity: Cultural or contextual notes are added in brackets right inside the text.
  • Modern language, timeless truth: Reverent but readable—perfect for new believers, struggling readers, or those wanting a clearer perspective.

🙋 Who It’s For

The New Modern Version (NMV) is designed for those who want to read the Bible with understanding, not confusion. While many translations assume a high reading level or a background in biblical language, NMV meets people where they are—without compromising depth or reverence.

NMV is especially for:

  • Readers who find traditional translations hard to understand
  • New believers unfamiliar with church language or Bible customs
  • Christians with limited literacy or language comprehension
  • Those who want biblical clarity without needing study guides or footnotes
  • Pastors, teachers, and parents looking for a clear teaching Bible that doesn’t water down truth

The NMV aims to restore confidence in reading Scripture—for those who’ve felt shut out by complex language or disconnected by archaic terms. God’s Word was meant to be understood, not decoded.
