Lesson: Acts 13:25 (Ages 3-5)

📖 Acts 13:25 – Ages 3-5

Explanation

John the Baptist was a special person who told others about Jesus. He knew he was not as important as Jesus. John said, "I am not the one. Someone greater than me is coming." It's like when you share your toys with a friend and say, "I'm happy to share, but I'm not as important as you." John was humble and wanted people to know that Jesus was the most important person. He showed us that it's good to be humble and think of others first, just like Jesus does.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little bunny named Benny who loved to help his friends in the forest. One day, Benny found a lost squirrel who was crying because he couldn't find his way home. Benny hopped over and asked, "Can I help you find your way back?" The squirrel was so grateful and said, "You're amazing, Benny! You must be the best helper in the whole forest!"

But Benny shook his fluffy ears and said, "Oh no, I'm not the best. Someone even greater is coming after me, who can help us all in ways I can't imagine. I'm just happy to do my part." The squirrel was amazed by Benny's humility and kindness.

Just like Benny, we can all do our best to help others and remember that Jesus is the greatest helper of all.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for John the Baptist who showed us humility and pointed to Jesus. Help us to remember that Jesus is the one we should always follow. Amen.

Life Application

This verse from Acts 13:25 teaches us about humility. Just like John the Baptist knew that he was not the most important person and that Jesus was the truly special one, we can also learn to be humble in our daily lives.

Children can apply this message by being kind and considerate to others, sharing toys with friends, and listening to their parents and teachers. They can remember that everyone is important and valuable, just like John knew that Jesus was more important than him. By being humble and treating others with love and respect, children can live out the message of this Bible verse in their homes, schools, and with their friends.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a simple craft to help children understand and remember the message of Acts 13:25. You can have the children draw footprints on a piece of paper or a cutout of footprints on a colored paper. Then let them write or dictate who they think John the Baptist was talking about when he said he was not even worthy to untie the sandals on His feet. You can guide them to understand that John was talking about Jesus. This hands-on activity can help reinforce the idea that John the Baptist knew Jesus was very special and important.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

John came first, but not the star,
He pointed to Jesus from afar.
Humble and true, he did proclaim,
Someone greater in Jesus' name!

Songs or Videos

One great Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Acts 13:25 is "Follow You" by Seeds Family Worship. This song talks about following Jesus and recognizing His greatness above all. Another wonderful song is "Who You Say I Am" by Hillsong Kids, which teaches children about their identity in Christ and how we are unworthy compared to Jesus. Both songs beautifully capture the humility and reverence we should have towards Jesus, just like John the Baptist did in Acts 13:25.
