Lesson: John 5:37 (Ages 3-5)
📖 John 5:37 – Ages 3-5
Explanation
This Bible verse is like when a parent tells their child about a special friend they have. Just like how Jesus, who is God's Son, came to earth to tell people about His Father, God. The verse is saying that God, who is like a loving Father, has shown and told everyone about Jesus, but some people may not have listened or paid attention.
It's a bit like when you tell your friends about a fun new game you played, but sometimes they might not believe you until they see it for themselves. Even though we can't see God with our eyes, we can feel His love in our hearts and know He is always with us.
Just like how you trust your parents to take care of you, we can trust that God sent Jesus to show us how much He loves us. So, even if we can't see God like we see our friends, we can still feel His love and know He is always watching over us.
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel named Sammy who loved to climb trees and explore the forest. One sunny day, Sammy heard a gentle voice whispering, “I love you, Sammy.” Surprised, Sammy looked around but couldn’t see anyone.
Confused, Sammy asked the wise old owl, “Who was that?” The owl smiled and said, “That was God speaking to you, my dear Sammy. Just like how we can hear the wind but can’t see it, God speaks to us in ways we may not always see.”
Sammy realized that God’s love is all around us, even if we can’t see Him with our eyes. Just like how Jesus shared in John 5:37, God speaks to us in special ways because He loves us very much. And from that day on, Sammy knew that God was always with him, even when he couldn’t see Him.
Prayer Prompt
Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to show us your love. Help us to trust in Jesus even though we cannot see you with our eyes. Amen.

Life Application
This Bible verse from John 5:37 tells us that God the Father testified about Jesus when He was on Earth. Even though we cannot see God the Father, we can see Jesus and know Him through the things He did and said.
For a child aged 3-5, they can apply this message in their real life by understanding that even though they cannot see God with their eyes, they can know Him through Jesus. They can learn about Jesus by reading Bible stories, praying, and talking to their parents and teachers about Him.
When they are at home, they can talk to Jesus through prayer and ask Him for help and guidance. They can also show love and kindness to their family members, just like Jesus did.
At school, they can be a good friend to others, share with those in need, and show kindness and forgiveness, just as Jesus taught us to do.
With their friends, they can share stories about Jesus and how He loves us. They can also be kind and caring towards their friends, just like Jesus is towards us.
By applying the message of this Bible verse in their daily life, children can grow closer to Jesus and learn to follow His teachings of love, kindness, and compassion.
Craft or Activity
Let’s create a craft where children can imagine what God’s voice might sound like! You can have the children use different materials like cotton balls, feathers, or even toy microphones to create a picture that represents God's voice. Encourage them to think about how God might speak to them in different ways, such as through the Bible, nature, or in their hearts. This hands-on activity can help them understand that even though we can’t physically hear God’s voice like we hear each other, He still speaks to us in special ways.
Memory Verse or Rhyme
In the Bible, Jesus said with glee,
"My Father in heaven has spoken of me.
You may not have seen Him or heard His voice,
But in me, His love you can rejoice!"
