Lesson: Mark 5:42 (Ages 6-8)

📖 Mark 5:42 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

In this Bible verse, a young girl who was very sick and not feeling well suddenly got up and started walking! Imagine being in a deep sleep and then waking up feeling strong and healthy - that's how she must have felt.

This miracle happened because Jesus, who is very powerful and full of love, healed the girl. Just like when we are sick and our parents give us medicine to help us feel better, Jesus can do even bigger miracles to make us well again.

People who saw this miracle happen were amazed and filled with wonder because they saw the incredible power of Jesus. It reminds us that Jesus is always with us, ready to help us in times of need and perform miracles in our lives too. It shows us how much Jesus cares for each one of us, just like he cared for the little girl in the Bible story.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Lily who loved playing with her toys in the garden. One sunny day, Lily's favorite stuffed bear named Benny accidentally fell into a deep hole. Lily was very sad and didn't know what to do.

Just then, her big brother came running and said, "Don't worry, Lily! I will help you get Benny back." Her brother tied a rope to a tree and carefully lowered himself into the hole. When he reached the bottom, he found Benny and handed him back to Lily.

Lily was amazed and happy to see her brother and Benny safe and sound. She hugged them both tightly and realized that even when things seem impossible, God can do amazing things to help us.

Just like in the Bible verse, when the girl got up and started walking, Lily learned that God's power can bring miracles in our lives when we trust in Him.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a "Miracle Walk" activity inspired by Mark 5:42! You can set up a simple obstacle course in your backyard or living room. Have the child pretend to be the girl in the story by starting at one end of the course and "walking" through various challenges like stepping over cushions (representing the sickbed), walking around cones (symbolizing the amazed crowd), and finally reaching the finish line (representing the moment the girl got up and walked). You can even play joyful music to celebrate the miracle just like the people in the story were amazed! This hands-on activity can help the child experience the wonder and joy of this miraculous event in a fun and memorable way.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

With Jesus' power, the girl arose,
At just twelve years old, she rose and chose,
To walk and move, no longer in bed,
Her healing miracle, they all said.

Remember, dear child, with faith so true,
Jesus can do amazing things for you!

Another great song for kids that connects to the message of Mark 5:42 is "You're Worthy of My Praise" by Jeremy Camp. This song highlights how Jesus is worthy of all our praise and how He has the power to do miraculous things, just like he did for the girl in the Bible verse.
