Lesson: Luke 18:1 (Ages 6-8)
📖 Luke 18:1 – Ages 6-8
Explanation
In this verse, Jesus is telling us a story, called a parable, to teach us an important lesson about praying and not giving up. Imagine you have a big puzzle to solve. When you start, it might be tricky, and you could feel like giving up. But if you keep trying and asking for help, you will eventually finish the puzzle.
Similarly, Jesus wants us to understand that when we pray, we are talking to God. He is like our loving parent who listens to us. Sometimes, our prayers may not be answered right away, and we might feel like stopping. But Jesus is saying that we should keep talking to God, like a friend, and not give up. God hears our prayers and will answer them in the best way and at the right time.
So, just like not giving up on a puzzle, we should never give up on talking to God through prayer. He always listens and cares about us, even when we feel like stopping. Let's remember to keep praying and trusting that God hears us and loves us very much.
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel named Sammy who loved to climb trees in the forest. One day, Sammy saw a delicious acorn at the very top of the tallest tree. He tried and tried to jump and reach it, but he just couldn't.
Feeling discouraged, Sammy sat down and thought about giving up. But then he remembered the story Jesus told about always praying and never giving up. So, Sammy closed his eyes, clasped his little paws together, and prayed for strength.
With a renewed spirit, Sammy tried again. He climbed and climbed, not giving up even when it was hard. And finally, after much effort, he reached the top and enjoyed the tasty acorn.
Just like Sammy, we should never give up on our dreams and always talk to God when things get tough.

In Luke 18:1, Jesus teaches us the importance of praying always and never giving up. Children can apply this message in their daily lives by praying to God regularly, especially when facing challenges or when they need help. They can talk to God at home, in school, or with friends, asking Him for guidance, strength, and wisdom. By developing a habit of prayer and trusting that God hears their prayers, children can learn to persevere and not lose hope, knowing that God is always with them and will help them through any situation.
Craft or Activity
Let's create a "Prayer Chain" craft to help children understand and remember the message of Luke 18:1.
1. Cut colorful strips of paper.
2. Have the children write or draw things they want to pray for on each strip.
3. Loop the strips together to create a chain.
4. As they link each strip, they can say a prayer for that specific request.
5. Encourage them to hang the prayer chain in their room as a reminder to always pray and never give up, just like in the verse from Luke 18:1.
Memory Verse or Rhyme
When things get tough, just remember to pray,
Jesus taught us to never give up, come what may.
So keep talking to God, don't stop, don't delay,
He hears every word, in His arms you'll stay!
