Lesson: Acts 9:19 (Ages 9-11)

📖 Acts 9:19 – Ages 9-11

Explanation

In this verse from the book of Acts, we learn about a man named Saul who became very weak and hungry after an important event in his life. Just like when you feel tired and weak after playing outside for a long time, Saul needed to eat some food to feel better and regain his strength.

After Saul had something to eat, he felt much better and stronger. It's similar to when you have a healthy meal after feeling hungry – you start to feel energized and ready to go back to playing or doing your tasks.

Saul stayed with the disciples in Damascus for several days. This means he spent time with people who believed in Jesus and followed his teachings. Just like how spending time with your friends or family makes you feel happy and supported, Saul found comfort and friendship with the disciples during his time in Damascus.

So, this verse teaches us that taking care of our bodies by eating well can help us feel strong, and being with friends who share our beliefs can bring us joy and support. It reminds us to take care of ourselves and to surround ourselves with people who encourage us in our faith, just like Saul did with the disciples.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel named Sammy who loved to run and play in the forest with his friends. One day, Sammy got lost and couldn't find his way back home. He felt scared and weak from not having food to eat. Just then, a kind bird named Bella found Sammy and brought him some nuts to eat. After eating, Sammy felt strong again and was able to find his way back home with Bella's help.

Just like Sammy, in the Bible, there was a man named Saul who became weak from not eating. But when he had some food, he regained his strength. Saul then spent time with other followers of Jesus, feeling supported and encouraged. This story teaches us the importance of taking care of our bodies by eating healthy food and being with friends who love and support us.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for giving us strength when we need it. Help us to be like Saul and spend time with others who love you. Amen.

Life Application

In Acts 9:19, we see how Saul (who later became known as the Apostle Paul) took care of himself by eating and spending time with other believers after a difficult time. Children can apply this by remembering to take care of themselves when they are feeling tired or weak. They can eat nutritious food, get enough rest, and spend time with people who love and support them, just like Saul did with the disciples in Damascus. This verse teaches children the importance of self-care and seeking support from friends and family during challenging times.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a craft that can help children understand and remember the message of Acts 9:19. You can have the children decorate paper plates to look like food, such as fruits, vegetables, or their favorite snacks. On the back of each plate, they can write or draw something that gives them strength or makes them feel better when they are feeling weak or tired. This activity can help them understand the importance of taking care of their bodies, just like Saul did by eating and regaining his strength in the Bible verse.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

When Saul ate, he felt just great,
His strength returned, no time to wait!
With disciples in Damascus, he stayed
For days, in love and faith he swayed!

Songs or Videos

One fun and lively Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Acts 9:19 is "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." This song reminds us that God is powerful and cares for us, just like how He restored Saul's strength in the Bible story.

Another great song is "The Joy of the Lord," which talks about finding strength and joy in God. Just like how Saul regained his strength after eating, this song can remind kids that God gives us the strength we need to face each day.
