Lesson: Acts 4:13 (Ages 6-8)

📖 Acts 4:13 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

Peter and John were two friends who followed and learned from Jesus. They loved Him very much and wanted to tell everyone about Him. Even though Peter and John were not very educated or fancy, they were very brave when talking about Jesus.

People who heard them were surprised because they expected only fancy and learned people to speak about important things. But when they saw Peter and John speaking boldly about Jesus, they could tell that these two friends had spent a lot of time with Jesus. They saw how much Peter and John loved Jesus and learned from Him, and it amazed them.

It's like when you see a superhero who doesn't wear a fancy costume but still does amazing things to help others. People might be surprised at first, but when they see the superhero's bravery and kindness, they realize that the superhero's heart is what makes them special.

The Bible teaches us that we don't need to be the smartest or fanciest to share God's love with others. What matters most is that we spend time with Jesus, learn from Him, and let His love shine through us, just like Peter and John did.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time in a bustling town, there was a curious little squirrel named Sammy. Sammy loved to explore and make new friends. One sunny day, Sammy saw two birds, Peter and John, standing boldly in the town square. Everyone was amazed by their confidence, even though they were just ordinary birds.

Sammy was curious and asked them, "How do you have so much courage?" Peter and John replied, "We have been with Jesus, who gives us strength."

Sammy learned that day that spending time with Jesus makes us brave and strong, no matter who we are or what we look like. Just like Peter and John, Sammy realized that having faith in Jesus can help us do great things, even if we feel small or ordinary.

Prayer Prompt

Life Application

This verse from Acts 4:13 teaches us that when we spend time with Jesus and have faith in Him, we can do great things with boldness and confidence. Children can apply this message in their daily lives by trusting in Jesus and being bold in sharing their faith with others. They can also remember that even if they feel ordinary or uneducated, God can still use them in amazing ways when they have a close relationship with Him. Encourage children to be brave in standing up for what is right, speaking truthfully, and showing kindness to others, just like Peter and John did.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a craft where children can make a simple "boldness badge" to remind them of the story from Acts 4:13. Provide materials like construction paper, markers, stickers, and safety pins. Have the children decorate their badges with words like "Boldness" or "With Jesus," and encourage them to draw symbols like a cross or a heart. This hands-on activity will help reinforce the message that being with Jesus gives us boldness, no matter who we are or what others think of us.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

When Peter and John stood up tall,
Their boldness amazed them all.
Though uneducated, they did shine,
For they had been with Jesus divine!

Songs or Videos

One great Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Acts 4:13 is "My Lighthouse" by Rend Collective. This song talks about how Jesus is our light and guide, just like Peter and John showed boldness because they had been with Jesus.

Another song you might enjoy is "Who You Say I Am" by Hillsong Kids. This song reminds us that our identity comes from being with Jesus, just like Peter and John's boldness came from being with Him.
