Lesson: Acts 4:34 (Ages 3-5)

📖 Acts 4:34 – Ages 3-5

Explanation

In Acts 4:34, it says that the early Christians shared everything they had with each other so that no one felt like they didn't have enough. They cared for each other and made sure everyone had what they needed.

Let's imagine you have a big box of your favorite toys and your friend doesn't have any toys to play with. If you shared some of your toys with your friend, they would be very happy and you both could have fun playing together. That's how the early Christians helped each other.

God wants us to love one another and help each other when someone is in need, just like the early Christians did. When we share with others, we show God's love and make the world a better place.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, in a sunny village, there was a kind little squirrel named Sammy. Sammy loved to collect acorns and share them with his friends. One day, Sammy noticed that his friend, Bella the Bunny, didn’t have enough carrots to eat.

Sammy remembered the verse from Acts 4:34 that said no one should be in need when others could help. So, Sammy decided to sell his favorite shiny acorns to buy lots of carrots for Bella.

When Bella saw Sammy’s kindness, she was so happy and thanked him with a big hug. Sammy felt warm and fuzzy inside, knowing he had helped his friend in need.

From that day on, Sammy and Bella made sure no one in their village went hungry, just like the friends in the Bible story. And they all lived happily ever after, sharing and caring for each other.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for teaching us to share and help others in need. Help us to be generous and kind, just like the people in Acts who took care of each other. Amen.

Life Application

Acts 4:34 teaches us about sharing and helping those in need. Children can apply this message in their lives by being kind and generous to others. At home, they can share their toys, clothes, or snacks with siblings or friends. They can also help their parents with chores without being asked. In school, they can include classmates who are left out or help someone who is struggling with their work. With friends, they can take turns playing with toys or games and make sure everyone feels included. By showing kindness and sharing with others, children can live out the message of Acts 4:34 in their everyday lives.

Craft or Activity

To help children understand Acts 4:34, you can create a "Sharing Jar" activity. Provide each child with a small jar or container. Encourage them to decorate it with stickers or drawings. Explain that just like the early Christians shared what they had, they can also share with others.

Throughout the week, whenever they do a kind act or share something with a friend or family member, they can write it down on a piece of paper and place it in their Sharing Jar. This will help them remember the importance of helping others and being generous, just like the early Christians in Acts 4:34. At the end of the week, you can celebrate together by reading the notes in the jars and talking about how it feels good to share with others.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

In the early church, they shared with a grin,
Selling their possessions to help those in need win.
Acts 4:34 tells us they cared for each friend,
No one was needy, love they did send!

Songs or Videos

One Christian song that relates to the message of Acts 4:34 is "We Are One in the Spirit" (also known as "They'll Know We Are Christians By Our Love"). This song emphasizes unity and love among believers, which is reflected in the early church's generosity towards one another.

Another song that captures the essence of Acts 4:34 is "Give Me Your Eyes" by Brandon Heath. This song encourages us to see the world through God's eyes and to have compassion for those in need, just like the early Christians who shared their resources with others.
