Lesson: 3 John 1:5 (Ages 6-8)

📖 3 John 1:5 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

In this verse, God is telling us that when we help other people, even if we don't know them well, we are doing something good and right.

Imagine if you see someone at school who is all alone during lunchtime. If you go sit with them and be their friend, even though you may not know them very well, you are showing love just like what God wants us to do.

Just like how Jesus loves us all, even if we are strangers to Him, we can show love and kindness to others too, even if we don't know them very well. It's important to be kind and help others whenever we can, just like how God wants us to be.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a kind-hearted bunny named Benny. Benny loved to help his friends in the forest, whether it was sharing his carrots or fixing their burrows. One day, a new squirrel family moved in, and they looked lost and scared.

Benny remembered the verse from 3 John 1:5 about acting faithfully towards strangers. He decided to welcome the squirrels with open paws. He showed them around, shared his favorite hiding spots, and even taught them how to leap from tree to tree.

The squirrel family was so grateful for Benny's kindness. They became great friends, and soon the forest was filled with laughter and joy. Benny learned that being kind to strangers not only made them happy but also filled his heart with warmth and love.

Prayer Prompt

Life Application

This Bible verse is teaching us to show love and kindness to others, even if we don't know them very well. Children can apply this message by being helpful and kind to their siblings and classmates, even if they are not friends with them. They can share their toys, help with chores, or simply say kind words to others. By doing so, they are showing love and faithfulness just like the verse encourages us to do.

Craft or Activity

To help children understand and remember the message of 3 John 1:5, you can create a "Kindness Rocks" activity. Provide small rocks or pebbles for each child to decorate with messages or symbols of kindness and love. Encourage them to think about how they can show kindness to others, even strangers. As they decorate their rocks, discuss the verse and how they can act faithfully by showing love to everyone, whether they know them or not. After decorating, they can keep the rocks as a reminder to always be kind to others.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

Beloved child, remember this verse so true,
Act faithfully in all you do.

For that's what Jesus wants from you!
