Lesson: Hebrews 11:11 (Ages 9-11)
📖 Hebrews 11:11 – Ages 9-11
Explanation
Sarah was a woman who wanted to have a baby very much, but she was already very old and thought she couldn't have children anymore. However, she believed in God and the promise He made to her and her husband, Abraham, that they would have a child. Even though it seemed impossible because of her age, Sarah trusted that God would make it happen because she knew God always keeps His promises.
Imagine if your friend told you they would give you a special gift, like a new pet, and you had to wait a long time for it. Even if it took longer than you expected, you would still believe your friend would keep their promise because you trust them. That's like how Sarah trusted God's promise to her.
So, Hebrews 11:11 teaches us that when we have faith in God and believe in His promises, even when things seem impossible, God can do amazing things in our lives just like He did for Sarah. It shows us that we should always trust in God's faithfulness and believe that He can do what He says He will do, no matter how unlikely it may seem.
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, in a bustling village, there was a little squirrel named Sammy. Sammy loved collecting acorns and dreaming big dreams. One day, he overheard the older animals talking about Sarah from the Bible, who had a baby even though she was very old.
Intrigued, Sammy asked his wise old friend, Mr. Owl, about Sarah's story. Mr. Owl explained that Sarah had faith in God's promise, so she became a mom even in her old age. Inspired, Sammy decided to have faith in his own dreams of building the biggest acorn stash ever.
Despite facing challenges and doubts from other animals, Sammy trusted in God's faithfulness and worked hard every day. And just like Sarah, Sammy's faith paid off. His acorn stash grew bigger than anyone had ever seen!
From then on, Sammy always remembered Sarah's story whenever he faced obstacles, knowing that with faith and God's promise, anything is possible.

Life Application
This Bible verse teaches us that Sarah believed in God's promise even when it seemed impossible. Children can apply this message in their lives by trusting in God's promises and having faith in Him even when things seem difficult or unlikely.
For example, if a child is facing a challenging situation at school or with friends, they can pray and have faith that God will help them through it. They can trust that God is faithful and will always keep His promises. By believing in God's faithfulness, children can find strength, hope, and courage to face any situation with confidence and peace.
Craft or Activity
One fun activity to help children understand Hebrews 11:11 is to create a "Faithful Promise Jar." Have the children decorate a jar with colorful paper, stickers, and markers. Then, provide slips of paper and pens for the children to write down promises from God that they find in the Bible.
Encourage the children to think about how God has been faithful to His promises in the past, just like He was faithful to Sarah. They can write down promises such as "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5) or "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11).
Once the promises are written, they can fold them and place them in the jar. This activity serves as a visual reminder that God is faithful to His promises, just as He was to Sarah. It can help children understand the importance of trusting in God's faithfulness, even when things seem impossible.

There is a beautiful Christian song for kids called "Faith as Small as a Mustard Seed" by Listener Kids that talks about having faith no matter how small it may seem. Another great song is "God Is Faithful" by Go Fish, which reminds us that God always keeps His promises just like He did for Sarah in the Bible. Both songs would be a wonderful way to reinforce the message of Hebrews 11:11 with your children through music.
