Lesson: Luke 17:16 (Ages 6-8)
📖 Luke 17:16 – Ages 6-8
Explanation
In Luke 17:16, a man who was not like the others, called a Samaritan, fell down in front of Jesus. He did this to show how grateful and thankful he was to Jesus. The Samaritan man was from a place that some people didn't like very much, but he still believed in Jesus and showed him respect.
Imagine you are playing with your friends, and one friend does something really nice for you. You would probably say thank you and feel happy, right? That's what the Samaritan man did. He was so happy and grateful for what Jesus did for him that he fell down and said thank you.
This story teaches us that we can be thankful and show gratitude to Jesus, just like the Samaritan did. It doesn't matter where we come from or who we are, Jesus loves all of us and wants us to be grateful for the good things in our lives. So, like the Samaritan, we can always remember to say thank you to Jesus for all the wonderful things He does for us!
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, in a village far away, there was a little rabbit named Rosie. Rosie loved hopping around and exploring new places. One day, she got lost in the woods and couldn't find her way back home.
As she hopped around, feeling scared and alone, she saw a kind squirrel who led her back to safety. Overjoyed and grateful, Rosie hopped up to the squirrel and hugged him tightly, thanking him for his help.
Just like the thankful rabbit, in the Bible, there was a man who fell at Jesus' feet, thanking Him for healing him. Even though the man was different and not liked by others, Jesus still showed him love and kindness.
Rosie learned that saying thank you and showing gratitude is important, no matter who helps us. Just like the man in the Bible, we should always remember to thank those who are kind to us.

Life Application
In Luke 17:16, we see a Samaritan man showing gratitude to Jesus for healing him. This teaches us the importance of expressing thankfulness, even in difficult situations. Children can apply this by remembering to say thank you to their parents, teachers, and friends for the things they do. They can show appreciation for acts of kindness, help, or even for simple things like a meal or a toy. By being thankful, children can spread joy and positivity in their homes, schools, and among their friends, just like the Samaritan did with Jesus.
Craft or Activity
One fun activity to help children understand and remember the message of Luke 17:16 is to create a "Thankful Samaritan" craft. Provide children with paper, markers, and craft materials to create a Samaritan figure. Encourage them to write or draw things they are thankful for on the Samaritan's clothing or around the figure. This hands-on activity can help children reflect on the importance of gratitude and the Samaritan's response to Jesus' healing.
