Lesson: Mark 10:18 (Ages 6-8)
📖 Mark 10:18 – Ages 6-8
Explanation
Jesus is teaching us an important lesson in this verse. He is saying that only God is truly good. When someone called Him good, He wanted them to think about what it really means to be good.
Imagine a superhero who always helps people and never does anything wrong. That superhero might seem really good to us, right? But even the best superhero can't compare to how good God is. God is perfect in every way – He is the kindest, most loving, and most wonderful Being there is.
By saying this, Jesus wanted us to remember that God is the ultimate source of goodness. He wants us to look to God for guidance on how to be good and loving towards others. So, when we see someone doing something really kind or loving, we can remember that it's because of God's goodness shining through them.
We can strive to be good like God by showing love, helping others, and being kind. And when we see these good things in others, we can thank God for His goodness working through them.
Kid's Story
Once there was a little squirrel named Sammy who loved to collect acorns. One day, Sammy found a shiny acorn and showed it to his friend, the wise owl. "This acorn is so good and special, just like you, Mr. Owl!" Sammy exclaimed.
The wise owl gently replied, "Sammy, only God is truly good, not me or this acorn. Remember what Jesus said in the Bible, 'No one is good except God alone.'" Sammy listened carefully and understood the lesson.
From that day on, whenever Sammy found something wonderful, he would say, "God is the best of all, and He made all good things for us to enjoy." Sammy learned that while things around us can be nice, only God is truly good, and we should always remember to thank Him for His goodness.
