Lesson: Luke 7:18 (Ages 9-11)
📖 Luke 7:18 – Ages 9-11
Explanation
In this verse from the book of Luke, we hear about John the Baptist, who was a special person chosen by God to prepare the way for Jesus. John's disciples were his friends and helpers who told him about all the amazing things Jesus was doing. John wanted to know more, so he asked two of his disciples to go and talk to Jesus.
Imagine if you had a really cool friend who had a surprise for you, but you were not sure what it was. You might ask your other friends to go and find out more about the surprise so you could be prepared. That's similar to what John did when he sent his disciples to Jesus.
John wanted to make sure he was following God's plan, so he sent his disciples to learn more about Jesus and see if he was the one sent by God. It's like when we have questions or want to understand something better, we can ask for help and seek answers just like John did.
So, this verse teaches us that it's okay to ask questions, seek guidance, and learn more about God's plans for us. John wanted to be sure he was following God's will, and we can also pray and seek guidance to understand and follow God's plan for our lives.
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, in a land filled with talking animals, a wise owl named Oliver heard about the miracles of a great lion named Leo. Curious, Oliver decided to find out more and asked his friends, the squirrels, to investigate.
When the squirrels returned with exciting stories of Leo's wonders, Oliver called for two of his bird friends, Robin and Blue, to go see Leo for themselves. Robin and Blue were amazed by Leo's kindness and power, and they came back full of joy and wonder.
Just like John's disciples sharing the news with him, Robin and Blue told Oliver about everything they saw. Oliver learned that sometimes, it's important to experience things for ourselves to truly understand and believe. And from that day on, Oliver made sure to always seek the truth firsthand.
