Lesson: Acts 28:23 (Ages 6-8)

📖 Acts 28:23 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

In this Bible verse, it talks about a man named Paul who was sharing the good news about Jesus with others. Just like how we tell our friends about something exciting that happened to us, Paul was telling people about Jesus.

Paul spent a whole day talking to people about God's kingdom and tried to help them understand who Jesus is. He used the Law of Moses and the Prophets, which are parts of the Bible, to explain why Jesus is so special.

Think of it like this: Imagine you have a favorite storybook, and you want to share it with your friends. You tell them all about the characters and the adventures they go on. That's what Paul did, but he talked about Jesus and how much Jesus loves us.

Paul wanted to help others believe in Jesus and follow Him too. Just like how we share our favorite things with our friends, Paul shared his love for Jesus with everyone he met. It's a beautiful way to show others how wonderful and special Jesus is in our lives.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, a curious bunny named Benny hopped over to his friend Squirrel's house to learn more about the kingdom of God. Squirrel shared that just like how Paul in the Bible explained about Jesus from the Law of Moses and the Prophets, they could learn about God's love too.

Excited, Benny invited all his forest friends for a big storytelling day. From sunrise to sunset, Benny stood on a log and shared stories about Jesus, just like Paul did. He told them about Jesus's love, kindness, and miracles, using the words of the Bible.

As the day ended, Benny's friends felt warm in their hearts, understanding more about God's kingdom. They thanked Benny for helping them learn about Jesus, just like Paul did in Acts 28:23. And from that day on, Benny became the forest's storytelling bunny, sharing God's love with everyone he met.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for giving us your word to learn about your kingdom and Jesus. Help us to listen and understand like the people in Acts 28:23 did when Paul shared about you all day long. Amen.

Discussion Questions

1. Why do you think it was important for Paul to explain and testify about the kingdom of God to the people who came to see him?
2. How do you think Paul felt as he tried to persuade others about Jesus using the Law of Moses and the Prophets?
3. What can we learn from Paul's dedication to sharing the good news of Jesus with others from morning until evening?
4. How can we also share the message of Jesus with our friends and family in a similar way?
5. Why do you think it's important to use both the Bible and our words to tell others about Jesus, just like Paul did?

Life Application

This verse teaches us the importance of sharing the good news about Jesus with others. Just like Paul explained and testified about the kingdom of God to those around him, children can share about Jesus with their family, friends, and classmates. They can talk about Jesus’ love, kindness, and teachings, and how following Him can bring joy and peace to their lives. Children can share their faith through their actions by being kind, helpful, and forgiving, just like Jesus. By sharing about Jesus in a loving and gentle way, children can help others learn about God's love and the good news of salvation.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a "Kingdom of God" map craft! Provide children with a blank map (you can draw one on paper or use a printable template) and markers or crayons. Have them draw symbols or pictures representing different aspects of the Kingdom of God, such as a crown for Jesus as King, a heart for God's love, a cross for Jesus' sacrifice, and a Bible for the Word of God.

As they draw, talk about how Paul shared the message of the Kingdom of God with others just like they are doing with their map. Encourage them to think about how they can also share the good news about Jesus with their friends and family. This hands-on activity will help reinforce the message of Acts 28:23 in a fun and creative way for young children.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

Gather 'round, young ones, listen with glee,
Paul shared God's love, for all to see.
From dawn 'til dusk, he did explain,
The kingdom of God, to all he'd train.
Using the Law, the Prophets, too,
He showed how Jesus makes us new!

Songs or Videos

A great song for kids that relates to the message in Acts 28:23 is "The Word of God" by Seeds Family Worship. This song emphasizes the importance of sharing and explaining the teachings of the Bible to others, just like Paul did in Acts 28. Another wonderful song is "Go Tell It on the Mountain," which encourages children to share the good news of Jesus with others, just as Paul shared about Jesus and the kingdom of God. Both of these songs can help reinforce the message of Acts 28:23 in a fun and engaging way for kids.
