Lesson: Matthew 24:50 (Ages 6-8)

📖 Matthew 24:50 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

This verse is like a story about a servant who was supposed to be taking care of his master's house while the master was away. The servant thought he had lots of time before the master came back, so he wasn't doing his job well. But then, surprise! The master came back when the servant wasn't ready at all.

Just like how the servant was caught off guard, the Bible is telling us that we should always be ready for Jesus to come back. We don't know the exact day or hour when He will return, so we should always be prepared by being kind, loving, and doing what is right. It's like keeping our hearts clean and full of love for others.

So, let's remember to always be good and kind, just like how we would want to be when Jesus comes back. Be ready, just like how we get ready for a surprise visit from a friend by keeping our house clean and our hearts pure with love.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel named Sammy who loved to collect acorns. Sammy would spend all day gathering acorns and storing them in his treehouse. One sunny day, he decided to take a break and play with his friends instead of collecting more acorns.

As the sun started to set, Sammy realized he hadn't gathered enough acorns for the winter. He hurried back to his treehouse, but it was too late. The winter came earlier than expected, and all the acorns were covered in snow.

Sammy learned an important lesson that day: just like in Matthew 24:50, we should always be prepared for the unexpected. We never know when things might happen, so it's essential to stay ready and not procrastinate.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for always being with us and watching over us. Help us to be ready for your return, just like you told us in the Bible. Amen.

2. How can we be ready for Jesus to come back even if we don't know when it will happen?
3. Why is it important to always be prepared and doing the right thing, just like the good servant in the story?

Life Application

This Bible verse reminds us to always be prepared and ready for when Jesus comes back. Children can apply this message in their real life by being obedient, kind, and helpful at home, school, and with friends. They can do their chores without being reminded, show love to others, and be a good friend by sharing and being honest. By doing these things, they are living in a way that pleases God and are ready for His return at any time.

Craft or Activity

To help children understand and remember the message of Matthew 24:50, you can do a fun activity called "Surprise Box."

You will need a small box, colored paper, markers, and small items or treats to put inside. Write the Bible verse on a piece of paper and place it inside the box, along with the treats. Decorate the box with colorful designs and the words "Surprise Box."

Explain to the children that, just like the surprise box, we never know when Jesus will come back, so we should always be ready. Encourage them to decorate the box and keep it in a special place in their room.

Whenever they see the box, they can remember the verse and the importance of being prepared for Jesus' return. This hands-on activity will help reinforce the message in a memorable and engaging way for young children.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

Remember this verse, so true and neat,
Be ready always, don't miss the beat!
The servant's master will come one day,
Surprise us all in His own way!

Songs or Videos

A great Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Matthew 24:50 is "My God is So Big" by Go Fish. This song reminds us that God is always with us and that we should be ready for His return at any time.

Another wonderful song is "Jesus Is Coming Back" by Colin Buchanan. This song teaches children about the second coming of Jesus and the importance of being prepared and living a life that pleases Him.
