Acts 5:3 – Ages 9-11

📖 Acts 5:3 – Ages 9-11

Explanation

In this Bible verse, Peter is talking to a man named Ananias who did something wrong. Ananias had sold some land and was supposed to give all the money to God's work. But instead, he kept some of the money for himself and lied about it.

Peter asked Ananias why he let Satan fill his heart with lies. This means that Ananias listened to the bad thoughts and ideas that Satan put in his head instead of being honest and doing the right thing.

Just like Ananias, we can sometimes have thoughts that are not good or true. It's important to always listen to God's voice in our hearts and choose to do what is right, even if it is hard. God wants us to be honest and kind to others, just like He is with us.

So, let's remember to fill our hearts with love, honesty, and kindness, and not let any lies or bad thoughts take root in our minds. God is always with us, helping us to make good choices and be the best version of ourselves.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a squirrel named Sammy who loved to collect nuts. One day, Sammy found a big pile of acorns and decided to keep them all for himself, not sharing with his friends. But as he started to hide them away, a little bird named Lily saw him.

Lily chirped, "Sammy, why are you keeping all the acorns to yourself? It's better to share with your friends!"

Sammy felt guilty and realized he was being selfish, just like Ananias in the Bible who lied and kept things for himself instead of sharing. He quickly gathered his friends and shared his acorns with them.

Through Sammy's story, children learn the importance of honesty, sharing, and not letting selfishness fill their hearts. Just like Peter confronted Ananias, Lily helped Sammy see the error of his ways.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for your love and guidance. Help us to always be honest and truthful, just like you want us to be. Amen.

Life Application

This verse teaches us the importance of being honest and truthful. Children can apply this message in their daily lives by always choosing to tell the truth, even when it may be tempting to lie or hide something. They can be honest with their parents, teachers, and friends in all situations. By being truthful, children show respect for God and others, just like Peter showed in this verse by confronting Ananias about his lie.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a craft to help understand Acts 5:3!

You can make a "Heart Check" craft by cutting out a heart shape from red construction paper. Write the verse Acts 5:3 on the heart. Then, cut out a smaller heart from black paper to symbolize Satan filling Ananias' heart with lies. Place the black heart inside the larger red heart.

Next, gather small pieces of paper and write down different behaviors or actions that show honesty and dishonesty. Fold these papers and place them inside a jar labeled "Heart Choices."

During your Bible lesson, discuss how Ananias made a wrong choice by lying to the Holy Spirit. Encourage the children to pick a paper from the jar and act out the behavior written on it. Emphasize the importance of making truthful choices and doing what is right in God's eyes.

This hands-on activity will help children visualize the impact of their choices on their hearts and understand the message of Acts 5:3 in a fun and memorable way.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

When Peter asked, Ananias lied,
Satan's trickery he couldn't hide.
To the Holy Spirit, always be true,
Honesty is the best thing to do!

Songs or Videos

One popular Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Acts 5:3 is "O Be Careful, Little Eyes" which teaches about being honest and truthful. Another great song is "The B-I-B-L-E" which emphasizes the importance of following God's Word and being truthful in all we do. Both of these songs help reinforce the message of honesty and integrity found in Acts 5:3.
