Lesson: 1 Corinthians 1:2 (Ages 6-8)

📖 1 Corinthians 1:2 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

In this verse, Paul is writing a letter to the people in a city called Corinth who believe in Jesus. He is saying that these people are like a special group of friends who love and follow Jesus. They are like a big family, all connected to Jesus.

Imagine you have a big family reunion, where all your relatives from different places come together. The people in Corinth and everywhere else who love Jesus are like that big family. They all believe in Jesus and call on Him as their special Lord and friend.

So, the verse is telling us that we are part of a big family of believers who love Jesus, no matter where we are in the world. We are set apart by Jesus, called to be His special people, and we all belong to Him. It's like being part of a big, loving family that stretches across the whole world, all because of our love for Jesus.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time in a bustling town called Joyville, there lived a curious little squirrel named Sammy. Sammy loved to collect acorns and share them with his friends. One sunny day, Sammy overheard the wise old owl, Mr. Hoot, talking about being set apart for a special purpose.

Intrigued, Sammy asked Mr. Hoot what it meant. The owl explained, "Just like how you gather acorns to share with your friends, God has set us apart to be His special people, to spread love and kindness everywhere we go."

Excited to be part of God's special plan, Sammy ran back to his treehouse and invited all his friends to a picnic. As they shared acorns and laughter, Sammy explained that they were like the believers in Corinth, called to follow Jesus together with others all around the world.

From that day on, Sammy and his friends lived out their faith by spreading joy and kindness to everyone they met, just like believers everywhere who call on the name of Jesus.

Life Application

This Bible verse teaches us that as believers in Jesus, we are set apart and called to be His people. Children can apply this message in their daily lives by remembering that they are special and chosen by God. They can strive to be kind, loving, and helpful to others at home, school, and with friends, just like Jesus taught us. By living out these values, they can show others the love of Christ and be a light in their communities.

Craft or Activity

One fun activity could be to create a "Family of Believers" craft. Provide children with paper cutouts of people, representing believers from different places and backgrounds. Encourage them to decorate these figures and write their names on them. Then, have the children gather these figures together in a circle to symbolize believers coming together as one family in Christ. This hands-on activity can help children visualize the message of unity and belonging in Christ from 1 Corinthians 1:2.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

In Corinth, believers stand tall,
Set apart by Jesus, we hear His call.
We're His people, chosen and dear,
United with others who hold Jesus near!
Together we worship, praise, and pray,
In every place, we call on His name each day!

Songs or Videos

There are many wonderful Christian songs and videos for kids that relate to the message of 1 Corinthians 1:2. One song you may enjoy is "We Are the Church" by Yancy. This song celebrates the unity of believers in Christ and the importance of being a part of God's family.

Another great song is "We Are One in the Spirit" by Peter Scholtes. This song emphasizes the idea of believers being united in Christ, regardless of where they are from or what they look like. It is a beautiful reminder that we are all part of God's family and called to love one another.

Both of these songs can help children understand and celebrate their identity as part of the church of God, set apart in Christ Jesus, and called to be His people.
