Lesson: 1 Timothy 3:7 (Ages 6-8)

📖 1 Timothy 3:7 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

This Bible verse is telling us that it's important for people to have a good reputation, which means that others think highly of them. When we act in a kind and loving way, people see us as good and trustworthy.

Imagine you have a friend who always shares toys and helps others when they fall down. Everyone thinks your friend is nice and good. That's having a good reputation!

But if someone is mean, lies, or does unkind things, people might not trust them or want to be their friend. That's not having a good reputation.

The verse also talks about the trap of the devil. Just like how a sneaky fox sets a trap to catch a rabbit, the devil tries to trick us into doing bad things that can make us unhappy and hurt others. So, by having a good reputation and being kind, we can avoid falling into the devil's traps and stay close to God's love.

So, let's always try our best to be kind, loving, and helpful to others, so we can have a good reputation and stay away from the devil's traps.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a friendly squirrel named Sammy who loved playing with all the animals in the forest. One day, Sammy decided to invite a new squirrel, Timmy, to join their games. But Timmy was always rude to the other animals and never shared his acorns.

As time passed, the other animals started avoiding Sammy because of Timmy's bad behavior. Sammy realized he needed to talk to Timmy about his actions. Sammy explained that having a good reputation means being kind and respectful to everyone, not just your friends.

Timmy listened and started being nicer to the other animals. Soon, he made new friends and had a good reputation in the forest. Sammy and Timmy became the best of friends, showing that being kind to others is important to avoid falling into the trap of the devil.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for teaching us to have a good reputation with others. Help us to always show Your love and kindness to everyone we meet so that we can stay away from the devil's traps. Amen.

Life Application

This Bible verse is teaching us that it is important to have a good reputation with people outside of our close circle. For a child your age, this means being kind, respectful, and honest with everyone you meet, not just your family and friends.

At home, you can apply this verse by obeying your parents, helping out with chores, and being loving towards your siblings. This will show others, like neighbors or visitors, that you are a good and respectful child.

At school, you can have a good reputation by being friendly to everyone, including classmates you may not know well. You can also show respect to your teachers by listening carefully and following their instructions.

With friends, you can apply this verse by being a good friend who is trustworthy and always does what is right. This means not giving in to peer pressure to do something wrong, but instead standing up for what you know is good and true.

By following these actions, you can have a good reputation with others, just as 1 Timothy 3:7 encourages us to do.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a "Good Reputation Badge" craft! To make this craft, you can have the children design and decorate their own badge using paper, markers, stickers, and glitter. On the badge, they can write or draw things that represent having a good reputation, such as being kind, honest, helpful, and respectful. You can then explain to them how having a good reputation with others is important because it reflects the love of Jesus and helps us avoid falling into the traps of the devil. The children can wear their badges proudly as a visual reminder to always strive to have a good reputation with others.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

"When we're kind and good to all,
We won't stumble, we won't fall.
With outsiders, we must be great,
To avoid the devil's trap and fate!"

Songs or Videos

A great Christian song for kids that relates to the message of 1 Timothy 3:7 is "This Little Light of Mine." The song encourages children to let their light shine and reflect Jesus in all they do, including having a good reputation with others. Another song that aligns with this verse is "I Wanna Be Like You" by The Lads, which emphasizes the importance of following Christ's example and living a life that honors Him. Both songs can help children understand the importance of maintaining a good reputation with others and avoiding the traps of the devil.
