Lesson: Acts 10:44 (Ages 6-8)

📖 Acts 10:44 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

Imagine you are sitting in a big circle with your friends, listening to a special story about God. As your teacher, Peter, shares the story with excitement, something amazing happens! It's like a gentle, warm breeze blowing around you, making you feel so happy and peaceful inside. This feeling is the Holy Spirit coming down to be with all of you, filling your hearts with love and joy.

Just like how we can feel the sun shining on us even when we can't see it because of the clouds, the Holy Spirit is God's special way of being close to us, even though we can't see Him. When Peter was telling the story about Jesus to his friends, the Holy Spirit came to show them that God was there with them, loving them very much.

So, when we listen to stories about God and Jesus, and when we feel happy and peaceful inside, that's the Holy Spirit being with us, just like in Acts 10:44. God's love is always around us, just like a big hug that we can feel in our hearts.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel named Sammy who loved to listen to stories. One sunny day, he gathered with his animal friends in the forest to hear Peter, a wise old owl, share a special message.

As Peter spoke about God's love and kindness, something magical happened. The gentle breeze grew stronger, and a warm light surrounded them. Suddenly, colorful sparkles filled the air, and the animals felt a sense of peace and joy like never before.

Sammy and his friends looked around in wonder as they realized the Holy Spirit was with them, just like in the story Peter shared. They understood that God's love is for everyone, no matter who they are.

From that day on, Sammy and his friends shared the message of love and kindness with all the creatures in the forest, spreading joy wherever they went.

Prayer Prompt

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to be with us always. Help us to listen to your message like the people in Acts 10 did, so we can feel your presence in our hearts. Amen.

Discussion Questions

1. What do you think it means for the Holy Spirit to come down on the people while Peter was speaking?
2. How do you think the people felt when they experienced the Holy Spirit coming down on them?
3. Why do you think it was important for the Holy Spirit to come down on all those who were listening to Peter's message?
4. How can we be open to receiving the Holy Spirit in our own lives?
5. Can you think of a time when you felt the Holy Spirit guiding you or helping you?

Life Application

This Bible verse from Acts 10:44 teaches us that the Holy Spirit can come upon anyone who listens to the message of God. Children can apply this message in their lives by being open to hearing God's message through prayers, Bible stories, and teachings at church. They can also learn to listen to their parents, teachers, and friends with kindness and respect, allowing the Holy Spirit to work through them to spread love and joy in their homes, schools, and friendships.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a craft that represents the Holy Spirit coming down on those who were listening to Peter's message in Acts 10:44. You can make a simple dove craft using paper plates. First, cut out a dove shape from a paper plate. Then, have the child color or decorate the dove to make it beautiful. Next, attach a string to the top of the dove so it can hang. As you hang the dove, talk about how the Holy Spirit came down on the people listening to Peter's message. This craft can serve as a visual reminder of the verse and help the child understand and remember the message.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

When Peter spoke, the Spirit came down,
On all who listened in that town.
Acts ten, forty-four, we see,
God's Spirit sets our hearts free!

Songs or Videos

I recommend the song "Holy Spirit" by Francesca Battistelli, which talks about the Holy Spirit coming down to be with us. Another great song is "Spirit Move" by Bethel Music Kids, which also focuses on the Holy Spirit's powerful presence. Both songs are uplifting and perfect for kids to enjoy while learning about Acts 10:44.
