Lesson: Acts 11:12 (Ages 9-11)
📖 Acts 11:12 – Ages 9-11
Explanation
In Acts 11:12, Peter is sharing with others how the Holy Spirit guided him. Just like how you may listen to your parents or teachers when they tell you what to do, Peter listened to the Holy Spirit.
When the Holy Spirit told Peter to go with some people to a man's house, Peter didn't hesitate. He trusted the Holy Spirit's guidance and followed without questioning. This teaches us about the importance of listening to God's voice and obeying Him.
Imagine the Holy Spirit as a compass that always points you in the right direction. Just like a compass helps you find your way when you're lost, the Holy Spirit guides us in our lives.
When Peter took those six brothers with him to the man's house, it shows us that we can also support each other in following God's guidance. We are stronger together when we listen to God and walk the path He sets before us.
So, Acts 11:12 reminds us to be attentive to God's voice, trust His guidance, and walk in obedience, just like Peter did. Let's be open to hearing God's whispers in our hearts and bravely follow where He leads us, knowing that He is always with us every step of the way.
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, there was a curious squirrel named Sammy. One day, Sammy heard a little bird chirping about a special acorn tree across the river. The bird said the acorns there were the tastiest in the forest! Excited, Sammy wanted to go but was scared of crossing the river.
Just then, a wise owl appeared and said, "The Spirit told me to go with you without hesitation." Sammy was surprised but felt brave with the owl by his side. Along the way, they met six friends who joined them on the adventure.
When they finally reached the tree, Sammy realized that the journey was just as exciting as the destination. He learned that sometimes, when we listen to our hearts and trust in God's guidance, amazing things can happen. And from that day on, Sammy was never afraid to try new things!
Prayer Prompt

Life Application
This Bible verse from Acts 11:12 teaches us about obeying the guidance of the Holy Spirit without hesitation. For children aged 9-11, they can apply this message by listening to their conscience, which is like a little voice inside them that helps them make good choices.
At home, they can obey their parents and do their chores without grumbling, knowing that it pleases God. At school, they can be kind to others, include everyone in games, and stand up for someone who is being bullied, even if it's not the popular thing to do. With friends, they can choose to do what is right, even if their friends want to do something wrong.
By following the prompting of the Holy Spirit and making good choices, children can bring joy to God and others around them, just like the believers in Acts 11:12 did when they went with Peter without hesitation.
Craft or Activity
One hands-on activity that could help children understand and remember the message of Acts 11:12 is to create a "Listening Ears" craft. You can provide each child with a pair of cut-out ear shapes and encourage them to decorate them with colorful markers, stickers, or glitter.
While they are decorating their "Listening Ears," you can talk to them about how important it is to listen to the Holy Spirit just like Peter did in the Bible verse. Emphasize the idea of not hesitating and following God's guidance promptly.
After decorating their "Listening Ears," you can have the children write down or draw a situation where they can listen to the Holy Spirit without hesitation, just like Peter did. This will help reinforce the message of the verse in a creative and memorable way.
Memory Verse or Rhyme
When the Spirit says "Go," don't delay or debate,
Just follow His lead, don't hesitate!
Six brothers joined in, no need to grouse,
Together they entered the man's house!

One great Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Acts 11:12 is "Spirit Break Out" by Kim Walker-Smith. This song talks about the Holy Spirit moving and working in our lives without hesitation, just like in the verse. Another wonderful song is "Spirit of the Living God" by Meredith Andrews, which also emphasizes being led by the Holy Spirit. Both of these songs can help kids understand the importance of following the guidance of the Holy Spirit without hesitation, just as Peter did in Acts 11:12.
