Lesson: Acts 16:31 (Ages 6-8)

📖 Acts 16:31 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

This Bible verse from Acts 16:31 is like a special gift of love from God. When it says, "Put your faith in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household," it means that when we believe in Jesus with all our hearts, we receive a wonderful gift called salvation.

Imagine salvation as a big, strong fortress that keeps us safe from harm, just like a castle protects its royal family. When we have faith in Jesus, we get to be part of God's family forever, and He keeps us safe and loved always.

And the best part is, this gift isn't just for us – it's for our whole family too! When we believe in Jesus, His love and protection cover everyone in our family, like a cozy blanket that wraps around us all.

So, when we trust in Jesus and His love, we are not only saved ourselves, but our family gets to share in this amazing gift too. It's like having a never-ending family hug from God, filling our hearts with peace and joy.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel named Sammy who loved to climb trees in the forest. One day, a big storm came, and Sammy got scared because he couldn't find his way back to his cozy treehouse.

Sammy remembered a verse from the Bible his friend had told him - Acts 16:31. He closed his eyes and whispered, "Lord Jesus, help me find my way home."

Suddenly, a gentle breeze guided Sammy to a familiar tree, and he felt safe again. Sammy realized that putting his faith in the Lord Jesus had saved him from being lost.

From that day on, whenever Sammy felt scared or lost, he remembered to trust in the Lord Jesus, just like the verse said. And he knew that Jesus would always be there to help him, no matter what.

Prayer Prompt

Life Application

Putting our faith in the Lord Jesus means trusting Him with all our hearts and believing that He loves us and wants the best for us. Children can apply this message in their real life by praying to Jesus when they are scared or worried, asking Him for help and guidance. They can also show love and kindness to their family and friends, just like Jesus taught us to do. By trusting in Jesus and following His teachings, children can bring joy and peace to their homes, schools, and friendships.

Craft or Activity

Let's make a "Faith Family Tree" craft!

You can start by drawing a tree trunk and branches on a piece of paper. Then cut out colorful paper leaves. On each leaf, write the name of a family member or loved one.

Next, write "Put your faith in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. - Acts 16:31" on the trunk of the tree. Explain to the child that just like how the jailer and his household believed in Jesus and were saved, we can pray for our family members to also have faith in Jesus.

Have the child glue the leaves onto the branches of the tree. As they do this, they can pray for each family member to know Jesus and be saved. This craft will help them remember the message of Acts 16:31 and the importance of faith in Jesus for salvation.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

When in doubt, just remember this line,
"Put your faith in Jesus, everything will be fine!
You and your family, saved and secure,
In the Lord's love, you can always be sure!"

Songs or Videos

One Christian song that relates to the message of Acts 16:31 is "My Lighthouse" by Rend Collective. This song talks about how Jesus is our lighthouse, guiding and saving us through any storm or darkness we may face.

Another great song is "My God is So Big" which emphasizes the power and faithfulness of God in our lives. It can help children understand that when we put our faith in the Lord Jesus, He is always there to save and protect us.
