Lesson: Acts 2:26 (Ages 6-8)

📖 Acts 2:26 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

When we read Acts 2:26, we learn that the writer is feeling very happy and full of joy in his heart. He is so happy that he wants to sing and praise God with his tongue. Just like when you feel really excited and want to sing your favorite song!

The writer also talks about feeling peaceful and calm inside, knowing that good things are on the way. It's like when you plant a seed in the ground and know that soon a beautiful flower will grow from it. That feeling of being sure something wonderful will happen is what the writer means by "confident expectation."

So, the Bible verse is telling us that when we trust in God and believe good things are coming, our hearts can be full of happiness and peace. Just like when we eagerly wait for our birthday and know it will be a day full of joy and surprises, we can trust that God has good things in store for us, and that can make our hearts glad and our tongues sing with joy!

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little bunny named Benny who loved to hop and play in the meadow. One day, Benny couldn't find his favorite carrot patch, and he felt scared and lost. But then he remembered a verse from the Bible, Acts 2:26, that said, "My heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body will rest in confident expectation."

Benny took a deep breath and closed his eyes, trusting that everything would be okay. He hopped around the meadow, singing a happy song, and soon he found his way back home. Benny learned that even when things seem scary, he can trust God and be glad in his heart. Just like Benny, we can also have joy and confidence in God, knowing that He will always take care of us.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for making my heart happy and my tongue sing with joy. Help me to rest in you with confidence, just like in Acts 2:26. Amen.

Life Application

This Bible verse from Acts 2:26 reminds us that we can be joyful and happy because we trust in God and His promises. Children can apply this message in their daily lives by choosing to be happy and grateful for the good things around them. At home, they can show thankfulness for their family, toys, and food. In school, they can have a positive attitude towards learning and be kind to their classmates. With friends, they can share joy by playing together and encouraging each other. By trusting in God and being thankful, children can experience true happiness and rest in the confident hope that God is with them always.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a craft that will help children understand Acts 2:26! You can make a "Glad Heart" collage. Provide children with heart-shaped cutouts and various materials like colorful paper, stickers, markers, and glue. Encourage them to decorate their heart with things that make them glad and bring them joy. As they work on their collage, talk to them about how when we are happy and joyful, our hearts are glad just like the verse says. This visual representation will help reinforce the message of having a glad heart and rejoicing with our tongue.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

God's love makes my heart so glad,
With joyful words, I am never sad.
In Him, my body finds its rest,
In hope and faith, I am truly blessed!

Songs or Videos

One great Christian song for kids that reflects the message of Acts 2:26 is "This Is the Day" by Laura Story. This song reminds us to rejoice and be glad in the day that the Lord has made, just like the verse in Acts. Another uplifting song is "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy" which emphasizes the joy and gladness that come from knowing and trusting in Jesus, which can help us rest in confident expectation just like Acts 2:26 teaches us.
