Lesson: Acts 23:7 (Ages 3-5)

📖 Acts 23:7 – Ages 3-5

Explanation

In Acts 23:7, there were two groups of people, the Pharisees and the Sadducees, who started arguing with each other. It was like when you and your friend can't agree on which game to play, so you start to have a little disagreement.

Even though they all believed in God, the Pharisees and the Sadducees had different ideas about some things in the Bible. This disagreement made them argue and caused a division among them.

But it's essential to remember that even when people disagree, we should try to be kind to each other and listen to different opinions. We can learn from this Bible verse that it's important to respect others, even when we see things differently.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time in a busy playground, two groups of friends couldn't agree on what game to play. The Swings Team wanted to swing high in the sky, while the Slide Squad wanted to race down the slide. The playground was filled with laughter until a big argument broke out!

Little Andy, a kind bunny, hopped over to help. He suggested they take turns, swinging and sliding, making everyone happy. The friends listened and decided to try Andy's idea. They took turns, swinging and sliding, and soon they were all laughing together again!

Just like in the playground, sometimes people may disagree, like the Pharisees and Sadducees in the Bible. It's important to listen, compromise, and find a way to get along, just like Andy and his friends did.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for showing us that sometimes people may not agree with each other. Help us to remember to be kind and loving, even when we have different opinions. Amen.

Discussion Questions

1. Why do you think the Pharisees and the Sadducees were arguing?
2. How do you think it made the people feel when they were divided?
3. Can you think of a time when you had a disagreement with a friend? How did you feel?
4. Why is it important to try to get along with others, even when we disagree?
5. How can we show love and kindness to others, even when we have different opinions?

Life Application

In Acts 23:7, we see how people got into a disagreement. As a young child, you can apply this message by learning the importance of being kind and getting along with others. When you are at home, school, or playing with friends, remember to treat others with love and respect. If a disagreement happens, you can try to talk calmly and find a solution that makes everyone happy. Remember, God wants us to be peacemakers and show love to others, just like Jesus did.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a visual representation of the division that happened in Acts 23:7. You can use colored paper to make two groups of people - one group representing the Pharisees and the other representing the Sadducees. Then, you can have the children tear a piece of paper in half to represent the division between the two groups. This hands-on activity will help them understand how the dispute led to a division among the people.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

When Paul spoke, a fight did start,
Pharisees and Sadducees didn't see eye to eye, they part.
Remember, in Acts twenty-three, verse seven,
A lesson on unity, straight from heaven!

Songs or Videos

A great Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Acts 23:7 is "We Are One in the Spirit" by Dana Dirksen. This song emphasizes unity and coming together as one in Christ, despite differences or disagreements.

Another wonderful song for kids is "Love One Another" by Listener Kids. This song teaches about the importance of showing love and kindness to one another, even when we may not see eye to eye on everything, just like the Pharisees and Sadducees in Acts 23:7.
