Lesson: Acts 3:22 (Ages 9-11)

📖 Acts 3:22 – Ages 9-11

Explanation

In Acts 3:22, Moses is talking about Jesus, who is the special prophet God promised to send. Moses was a great leader who helped the Israelites, and he told the people that God would send another special leader like him in the future.

Imagine Moses as a superhero like Batman, always helping people and fighting for what is right. He told the people to pay attention to this new superhero that God would send, just like how we pay attention to our parents or teachers when they give us important instructions.

This special leader, Jesus, came to show us how much God loves us and to teach us how to live in a way that pleases God. He teaches us to be kind, loving, and to always listen to God's words. Just like how we listen to our favorite teachers at school and follow their guidance, we should listen to Jesus and follow His teachings to make God happy.

So, Moses was telling the people to be ready for this amazing prophet, Jesus, who would come to teach them how to live a good and happy life. Just like how we look up to our favorite superheroes, we can look up to Jesus and follow His example to be the best we can be.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, in a bustling village, there lived a curious young girl named Lily. One sunny day, Lily found a talking parrot named Polly in the forest. Polly loved to chatter and tell stories about faraway lands.

One day, Polly squawked, "Lily, did you know that long ago, Moses told the people about a special prophet God would send?"

Intrigued, Lily asked, "What did Moses say about the prophet?"

Polly replied, "Moses said the prophet would be like him and that everyone must listen to him."

Later, Lily heard her friend Sarah being bullied. Remembering what Polly said, Lily stood up for Sarah and comforted her. Sarah smiled and said, "Thank you for listening and being a true friend, Lily."

Lily realized that listening and helping others was important, just like Moses had taught.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for sending us prophets like Moses to guide us and teach us. Help us to listen carefully to everything they tell us, so we can follow Your ways. Amen.

Life Application

In Acts 3:22, Moses is referring to Jesus, the prophet whom God would send to save His people. Children can apply this message in their daily lives by listening to Jesus through the teachings in the Bible. They can show love and kindness to others, just as Jesus taught, by being helpful and caring at home, school, and with friends. By following Jesus' example, children can make good choices, be honest, and treat others with respect. They can also pray and ask Jesus for guidance when they face challenges or need help making decisions.

Craft or Activity

To help children understand and remember the message of Acts 3:22, you can create a "Prophet Puzzle" activity. Provide children with puzzle pieces that have different parts of the verse written on them. Encourage them to work together to assemble the puzzle and arrange the pieces in the correct order to reveal the complete verse. As they piece together the puzzle, discuss the meaning of the verse and its significance in their lives. This hands-on activity will engage children and help reinforce the message of listening to and obeying the prophet that God sends.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

In Acts chapter three, verse twenty-two,
Moses said, "A prophet like me, God will raise for you.
Listen closely to His word, follow His command,
Obey Him always, walk hand in hand."

Songs or Videos

A wonderful Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Acts 3:22 is "God's Not Dead" by the Newsboys. This song talks about how God is alive and working in our lives today, just as He did in the time of Moses.

Another great song is "My Lighthouse" by Rend Collective. This song reminds us that God is our guiding light, just as He was for Moses and the people of Israel. It encourages us to listen to God and follow His leading in our lives.
