Lesson: Acts 8:38 (Ages 3-5)

📖 Acts 8:38 – Ages 3-5

Explanation

In this Bible verse, we learn about a man named Philip who helped someone learn more about God. The man he helped was sitting in a chariot, which is like a fancy, big car with wheels. When they saw some water, they stopped the chariot. Philip and the man got out of the chariot and went into the water.

Baptism is like taking a special bath to show that we love and believe in Jesus. Just like how we take a bath to clean our bodies, baptism helps clean our hearts and shows others that we follow Jesus. It's a way to tell God and everyone that we want to be like Jesus and do good things.

So, in this verse, Philip helped the man understand more about God and then baptized him in the water. It was a special moment where the man showed everyone that he believed in Jesus and wanted to live like Him.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel named Sammy who loved to explore the forest. One sunny day, Sammy met a wise owl named Oliver, who told him about a special way to show his love for God.

Oliver explained that just like how Philip baptized the eunuch in the river, Sammy could also be baptized to show his faith. Excited, Sammy asked Oliver to help him find a little stream in the forest.

As Sammy dipped his tiny paws into the water, Oliver gently poured some over his head, saying, "I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."

Feeling a warm sensation in his heart, Sammy knew that God's love was always with him, just like the water that flowed in the stream. From that day on, Sammy felt even closer to God and remembered the special moment of his baptism with joy.

Life Application

This verse teaches us about the importance of obeying God's commandments. Just like Philip and the eunuch stopped the chariot and went into the water for baptism, children can learn to obey God and their parents or teachers. They can apply this by listening and following instructions, being kind to others, and showing love and respect to everyone around them. This verse encourages children to do what is right and to follow God's teachings in their daily lives.

Craft or Activity

One fun activity you can do to help children understand Acts 8:38 is to create a small sensory bin or tub filled with water and toy figures representing Philip, the eunuch, and a chariot. As you read the verse to the children, ask them to act out the scene with the toys in the water. Encourage them to narrate the story as they play, emphasizing the important parts such as Philip baptizing the eunuch. This hands-on activity can help children engage with the verse in a memorable way.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

In the water they did go,
Philip baptized the eunuch, you know.
Acts 8:38 is the verse we find,
Showing God's love to all mankind.

Songs or Videos

One great Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Acts 8:38 is "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down in My Heart." This song talks about the joy of knowing Jesus and can help children understand the joy that comes from following Him. Another good song is "This Little Light of Mine," which encourages children to let their light shine for Jesus and share His love with others, just like Philip did by baptizing the eunuch. Both of these songs can help reinforce the message of Acts 8:38 in a fun and engaging way for kids.
