Lesson: Hebrews 11:17 (Ages 3-5)

📖 Hebrews 11:17 – Ages 3-5

Explanation

Abraham is a man in the Bible who loved God very much. God asked Abraham to do something very hard - to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice. This means he needed to give up his son, whom he loved so much, to show his love and trust in God.

Abraham loved God so much that he was willing to do what God asked, even though it was very difficult. He trusted God's plan and believed that God would take care of everything.

Just like how Abraham trusted God, we can also trust God in our lives. Even when things are hard or we don't understand why something is happening, we can have faith that God loves us and has a good plan for us.

So, when we face tough times, we can remember Abraham and his faith in God, and know that we can trust God too, just like he did.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel named Sammy who loved collecting acorns. One day, Sammy found the biggest, shiniest acorn he had ever seen. He wanted to keep it all for himself, but then he remembered the story of Abraham and Isaac.

Sammy realized that just like Abraham had faith in God and was willing to give up something precious, he could show faith too. So, Sammy decided to share the special acorn with his friends instead of keeping it all for himself.

By sharing the acorn, Sammy learned that having faith means trusting in God and being willing to give up something important if it pleases God. Just like Abraham did with Isaac, Sammy showed his faith by being generous and kind to others.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for Abraham's faith and trust in you. Help us to trust you like he did. Amen.

Life Application

This Bible verse teaches us about Abraham's strong faith in God, even when faced with a difficult test. For young children, this verse can remind them to trust God no matter what challenges they may face. They can apply this message by showing faith and obedience in simple ways, such as listening to their parents, being kind to others, and praying to God when they are scared or worried. Just like Abraham trusted God with his son Isaac, children can trust God with their lives and know that He will always take care of them.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a simple craft to help children understand the message of Hebrews 11:17! You can have the children color a picture of Abraham and Isaac on a piece of paper. Then, provide them with small stickers or cutout shapes of hearts to represent Abraham's love for Isaac and stars to represent God's promises. As they decorate their artwork, you can talk to them about how Abraham showed his faith by being willing to obey God, even when it was difficult. This hands-on activity can help reinforce the idea of trusting God and obeying Him, just like Abraham did.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

Abraham had strong faith, it's true,
He offered Isaac, his son so dear,
Trusting in God, without any fear,
By faith, he obeyed, his heart so true.

Songs or Videos

One Christian song that relates to the message of Hebrews 11:17 is "Trust in You" by Lauren Daigle. This song talks about having faith and trust in God even when we don't understand His plan, just like Abraham did when he offered up Isaac. Another great song is "Do It Again" by Elevation Worship, which emphasizes trusting God's faithfulness in difficult times, similar to Abraham's trust when he offered up Isaac. Both of these songs can help children understand the importance of faith and obedience in God's plan.
