Lesson: John 18:30 (Ages 9-11)
📖 John 18:30 – Ages 9-11
Explanation
In this Bible verse, some people were saying that if Jesus hadn't done anything wrong, they wouldn't have given Him to the authorities. This shows that they thought Jesus was a criminal, even though He did nothing wrong. It's like if someone accused you of taking their toy, but you didn't do it. You would feel sad and misunderstood, just like Jesus must have felt.
Even when we do the right thing, sometimes people might not understand or believe us. But just like Jesus stayed true to who He was and didn't let the false accusations change Him, we can also stay true to ourselves and keep doing what is right, even when others doubt us. Jesus teaches us to be strong and stick to our beliefs, even when it's hard.
Remember, God knows the truth about us, just like He knew the truth about Jesus. So, we can trust Him to guide us and help us through any tough situations, just like Jesus trusted God during His difficult time.
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, in a cozy village, there was a curious squirrel named Sammy. One sunny day, Sammy saw the other animals gossiping about a new rabbit in the forest who they thought was up to no good.
Sammy decided to investigate and found the rabbit, named Robbie, planting seeds to grow food for everyone in the forest. Sammy was impressed by Robbie's kindness and hard work. But soon, some of the animals accused Robbie of stealing carrots from the garden. Sammy knew Robbie was innocent and spoke up for him.
Just like in the Bible verse, some animals judged Robbie unfairly without knowing the truth. Sammy taught them that it's important to seek the truth and not judge others without evidence. From that day on, Sammy and Robbie became great friends, and the animals learned a valuable lesson about not jumping to conclusions.
Prayer Prompt
Dear God, thank You for loving us even when we make mistakes. Help us to remember that Jesus was innocent, yet He was handed over because of others' misunderstandings. Teach us to seek the truth and show kindness to everyone, just like Jesus did. Amen.

Life Application
This Bible verse teaches us about how people can treat others unfairly and make false accusations. Children can apply this message in their own lives by always being fair and truthful in their words and actions. They can choose to speak up for what is right and stand up against injustice, just like Jesus did. In their daily interactions with family, friends, and classmates, children can remember to be honest, kind, and fair, even when it may be easier to go along with the crowd or be influenced by others. By following Jesus' example of integrity and standing up for what is right, children can show love and goodness in all they do.
Craft or Activity
Let's create a "Truth Detective" activity! Provide the children with magnifying glasses and detective hats to wear. Write the verse from John 18:30 on a large piece of paper and cut it into smaller pieces, mixing them up. Have the children work together to search for the pieces and put the verse back together in the correct order. As they piece it together, discuss the meaning of the verse in simple terms, emphasizing the importance of telling the truth and standing up for what is right. After completing the activity, encourage the children to share ways they can be truth detectives in their own lives by speaking honestly and standing up for justice.
Memory Verse or Rhyme
When Jesus stood on trial that day,
The leaders had this to say,
"If He were good, He'd go free,
But they chose to hand Him over, you see!"
