Lesson: John 9:35 (Ages 6-8)

📖 John 9:35 – Ages 6-8

Explanation

In this verse, Jesus is talking to a man who was once blind but can now see because Jesus healed him. When Jesus heard that the man had been kicked out by some people, He went to find him.

Imagine if you made a beautiful sandcastle at the beach, and someone came and knocked it down. You might feel sad and alone. That's how the healed man might have felt when he was thrown out.

But Jesus found him and asked him if he believed in the Son of Man, which is another name for Himself. It's like asking if he believed in the person who healed him and did something amazing for him.

When Jesus finds us, He wants to know if we believe in Him too, just like the healed man. Believing in Jesus means trusting Him, loving Him, and knowing that He is always with us, no matter what happens.

So, just like the healed man, we can believe in Jesus and know that He is our friend who loves us and helps us, even when things feel tough.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little lamb named Lily who loved to explore the meadows near her home. One day, Lily wandered too far and got lost in the woods. She felt scared and alone until she heard a gentle voice calling her name. It was the shepherd who cared for her flock.

Just like in the Bible verse John 9:35, Jesus found Lily when she was lost and asked, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?" Lily didn't understand at first, but the shepherd explained that Jesus was like a caring friend who would always be there for her.

Lily realized that she could trust Jesus just like she trusted her shepherd to keep her safe. From that day on, whenever she heard his voice, she knew she was never alone.

Prayer Prompt

Dear God, thank you for always finding us and caring for us, just like Jesus found the man who was thrown out. Help us to believe in Jesus, the Son of Man, and to trust in Him always. Amen.

Discussion Questions

1. What do you think Jesus wanted to know when He asked the man if he believed in the Son of Man?
2. How do you think the man felt when Jesus asked him that question?
3. Why do you think it was important for the man to believe in the Son of Man?
4. How can we show our belief in Jesus in our everyday lives?
5. Can you think of a time when you showed your belief in Jesus by your actions or words?

Life Application

When we read John 9:35, we learn that Jesus cared about the man who was thrown out and wanted to know if he believed in Him. Children can apply this message by showing kindness and care to others who may feel left out or lonely. They can be like Jesus by reaching out to someone who needs a friend at school, playing with a classmate who is alone, or including others in their games. By doing these things, children can show love and kindness just like Jesus did.

Craft or Activity

Let's create a craft where children can make "Believe in Jesus" bracelets. Provide beads and string for each child to create a bracelet with alternating colors that spell out "Believe" and "Jesus." As they string each bead, you can discuss the importance of believing in Jesus, just like the man in John 9:35. This hands-on activity can help children remember the message of the verse and reinforce the concept of faith in Jesus.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

When Jesus found the man thrown out,
He asked with love, without a doubt,
"Do you believe in the Son of Man?"
Trusting in Jesus, we surely can!

Songs or Videos

There is a beautiful song called "Jesus Loves Me" that is a classic favorite among children. This song reminds us of Jesus' love for each one of us, just like how He showed love and care for the man in John 9. Another great song is "This Little Light of Mine," which encourages children to let their light shine for Jesus, just as the man who was healed shared his testimony of faith. Both songs can help children understand the love and grace of Jesus in a simple and joyful way.
