Lesson: Luke 20:37 (Ages 3-5)
📖 Luke 20:37 – Ages 3-5
Explanation
In this Bible verse, Jesus is telling us that even though people die, God can bring them back to life, just like how He showed Moses with the story of the burning bush.
Imagine a beautiful flower that looks all dried up and dead. But when the sun shines on it and the rain falls, the flower comes back to life and blooms again. That's how God can bring people back to life, too!
When we believe in God and trust in Him, we can have hope that one day, just like how He remembered Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, He will remember us and bring us back to life to be with Him forever in heaven. Isn't that amazing?
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, there was a curious squirrel named Sammy. One sunny day, Sammy saw a beautiful bush with bright red leaves that seemed to be on fire. As he got closer, he heard a gentle voice calling out, "I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."
Sammy was amazed and ran back to his squirrel friends to tell them what he saw. They all gathered around, listening intently. Sammy explained that just like how the bush looked like it was burning but wasn't really on fire, God can bring people back to life, just like He did with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
The other squirrels were amazed by this story and learned that God has the power to raise the dead. From that day on, Sammy and his friends remembered the burning bush as a reminder of God's amazing power and love for all His creation.

Life Application
This Bible verse from Luke 20:37 teaches us that God is the God of the living, not just the dead. We can help young children understand this message by explaining that even though people we love may have passed away, we can still feel close to them because they are with God in heaven.
Children aged 3-5 can apply this message in their daily lives by talking about their loved ones who have passed away and remembering the good times they shared with them. They can also pray to God and ask Him to help them feel happy and loved, knowing that their loved ones are safe with Him.
Encourage children to share stories and memories about their loved ones with family and friends. This can help them feel connected to those who have passed away and bring comfort and joy to their hearts. Remind them that God is always with them, watching over them and their loved ones, and that they can talk to Him anytime they want.
Craft or Activity
Let's create a simple craft to help children understand the message of Luke 20:37. You can make a "Burning Bush" craft using green construction paper for the bush, yellow and red tissue paper for the flames, and a small card with the verse written on it.
1. Cut out a bush shape from the green construction paper.
2. Crumple small pieces of yellow and red tissue paper to represent flames.
3. Glue the flames onto the bush to create the burning effect.
4. Write the verse on a small card and attach it to the craft.
5. As you make the craft, explain to the children that this represents the burning bush where God spoke to Moses and showed that He is the God of the living, like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
This hands-on activity will help children visualize the story of the burning bush and understand the message of God being the God of the living, even after death.
Memory Verse or Rhyme
In the burning bush so grand,
Moses heard God's special plan.
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob too,
God's love and promise forever true!
In heaven above, they're raised with care,
God's love for us, He'll always share!
