Lesson: Luke 4:35 (Ages 6-8)
📖 Luke 4:35 – Ages 6-8
Explanation
In this Bible verse, Jesus is showing His power over evil. The demon inside the man was making him act in a bad way, but Jesus told the demon to leave, and it had to obey Him.
Imagine if you have a naughty monster in your room that makes you do things you know are wrong, like not sharing with your friends or being mean to your siblings. Jesus is like a superhero who can make that monster go away, so you can be kind and loving to others.
When we ask Jesus into our hearts, He helps us get rid of the bad things inside us, like selfishness or anger. We can ask Jesus to help us be good and loving, just like He did for the man in the Bible. Jesus wants to fill our hearts with His love and goodness, so we can be the best versions of ourselves.
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, there was a brave little girl named Lily. One day, she found a shy puppy named Spark in the park. Spark often felt scared and would bark loudly at everyone. Lily knew something was wrong, so she decided to help.
Remembering the story of Jesus and the demon, Lily whispered gently to Spark, "Be silent and come out of him!" Suddenly, Spark stopped barking and wagged his tail happily. Lily smiled, knowing she had helped her new friend.
From that day on, Spark became a friendly and playful puppy, making new friends in the park without scaring anyone. Lily learned that sometimes all it takes is a kind heart and a gentle touch to help those in need, just like Jesus did in the Bible.

Life Application
When we read about Jesus commanding a demon to leave a person in Luke 4:35, we see His power and authority over evil. Children can apply this message by understanding that Jesus is stronger than anything scary or bad that they might encounter.
In their daily lives, children can remember that they can pray to Jesus for protection and help when they feel scared, sad, or upset. Just like Jesus showed His power in the Bible verse, children can trust that Jesus is with them and will help them overcome any difficulties they face.
They can also learn to stand up against wrong or scary things by speaking up for what is right, just like Jesus rebuked the demon. This can mean being kind to others, telling the truth, or helping someone in need. By following Jesus' example of using His power for good, children can make a positive difference in their homes, schools, and friendships.
Craft or Activity
Let's make a simple craft to help you remember this Bible verse!
You can create a "Jesus and the Demon" popsicle stick puppet. Draw or print out a picture of Jesus on one popsicle stick and a demon on another. Then, attach a small piece of string to the demon stick.
As you retell the story of Luke 4:35, you can act it out with your popsicle stick puppets. When Jesus rebukes the demon, have the demon stick fall down as if it is being thrown out. This hands-on activity can help you visualize and remember the powerful message of Jesus' authority over evil spirits.
Memory Verse or Rhyme
When demons cause fear and doubt,
Jesus tells them to get out!
With power and love, he sets us free,
In Luke 4:35, we clearly see.
