Lesson: Luke 7:11 (Ages 9-11)

📖 Luke 7:11 – Ages 9-11

Explanation

In Luke 7:11, it talks about Jesus going to a town called Nain with His friends and many people following Him. Just like when you go to the park with your friends and classmates, Jesus had His friends, who were called disciples, and a big group of people with Him.

Jesus was a very special person who did amazing things, like healing the sick and helping those in need. When He went to Nain, something very special happened there that shows us how much Jesus cares for us.

Imagine you are playing with your friends at the playground, and suddenly you see someone who is very sad because they lost something important to them. Jesus was like a superhero who could help people feel better when they were sad or sick.

So, in this verse, we see that Jesus was on His way to Nain to do something wonderful, and it teaches us that Jesus is always with us, ready to help us when we need Him. Just like He went to Nain to help the people there, He is always there for us too, ready to show His love and kindness in our lives.

Kid's Story

Once upon a time, in a bustling town called Nain, there lived a little girl named Lily. Lily loved playing with her friends and exploring the beautiful fields surrounding her town.

One day, a kind and wise teacher named Jesus visited Nain with His disciples. The townspeople followed Him eagerly to hear His teachings. Lily was curious and joined the large crowd.

As they walked through the town, they came across a sad funeral procession. Lily saw a grieving widow who had lost her only son. Jesus was moved with compassion and raised the young man back to life. The town was filled with joy and wonder at this miracle.

Lily learned that Jesus cared deeply for those who were hurting and that His love and power could bring hope in even the darkest times. She decided to follow His example by showing kindness to others in need.

Prayer Prompt

Life Application

In Luke 7:11, we see Jesus showing compassion by going to a town called Nain where He met a widow who had lost her only son. As a child, you can apply this message in your life by being there for others in their time of need. At home, you can comfort a family member who is sad or help out with chores without being asked. At school, you can be a good friend to someone who is feeling lonely or left out. With your friends, you can show kindness and support when they are going through a tough time. Just like Jesus and His disciples went with Him to Nain, you can be a source of comfort and support for those around you.

Craft or Activity

To help children understand and remember the message of Luke 7:11, you can have them create a diorama of the town of Nain. Provide them with materials like shoeboxes, colored paper, markers, and small figurines to represent Jesus, His disciples, and the large crowd. Encourage them to include details like houses, a marketplace, and people going about their daily activities. As they work on their dioramas, you can discuss the significance of the verse and how Jesus' presence drew a large crowd wherever He went. This hands-on activity can make the story come alive for the children and help them visualize the scene in Nain.

Memory Verse or Rhyme

In Nain town, Jesus went,
Disciples and crowds, His message sent.
A miracle happened, hearts were won,
Remember this verse, God's love shines like the sun!

Songs or Videos

One Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Luke 7:11 is "God's Not Dead" by the Newsboys. This song reminds us of the power of Jesus and His ability to bring life and hope even in the midst of death and despair, just as He did in the town of Nain.

Another great song is "My Lighthouse" by Rend Collective. This song talks about how Jesus is our guiding light in the darkness and how He brings hope and joy into our lives, just like He did for the people in Nain when He raised the widow's son from the dead.

Both of these songs can help children understand the powerful message of Luke 7:11 in a fun and engaging way.
