Lesson: Luke 8:45 (Ages 9-11)
📖 Luke 8:45 – Ages 9-11
Explanation
In this Bible verse, Jesus felt someone touch Him in a special way. He asked, "Who touched Me?" even though there were many people around Him. Peter, one of Jesus' friends, pointed out that many people were pressing in around Him.
Imagine being in a big crowd like at a school event or a party. Everyone is close together, and it might be hard to know who touched you. But Jesus knew that someone touched Him with faith and a special need in their heart.
Just like in a crowded place, we can still reach out to Jesus with our hearts. When we pray to Him or talk to Him, even in a busy world, He hears us. Jesus cares about each of us individually, just like He cared about the person who touched Him that day. It shows us that we can always come to Jesus, no matter how many people are around us.
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, there was a curious puppy named Benny. One day, Benny saw a big crowd following Jesus, and he decided to join in. As they walked, Benny accidentally bumped into Jesus and felt a warm, comforting touch.
Jesus stopped and asked, "Who touched Me?" Everyone denied it, including Benny, who wagged his tail innocently. But Peter, one of Jesus's disciples, explained that many people were pressing in on Him.
Benny realized that even though he didn't speak, his touch mattered to Jesus. He learned that Jesus notices and cares for each one of us, even in a big crowd. From that day on, Benny made sure to show his love for Jesus by wagging his tail whenever they crossed paths, knowing that Jesus would always notice and love him back.
Prayer Prompt

Life Application
In Luke 8:45, we see Jesus asking who touched Him when He felt power go out from Him. This verse teaches us that even when we are surrounded by many people or things, Jesus notices when we reach out to Him in faith.
Children aged 9-11 can apply this message in their lives by understanding that Jesus always notices and cares about them, even in the midst of busyness or distractions. They can remember to turn to Jesus in prayer and trust that He hears them.
At home, they can talk to Jesus when they need help or guidance, knowing that He is always there to listen. In school, they can pray silently before a test or when they need courage to speak up. With friends, they can remember that Jesus is with them, guiding them to make good choices and be kind to others.
By applying the message of Luke 8:45 in their daily lives, children can grow in their faith and experience the love and presence of Jesus in all situations.
Craft or Activity
One fun activity to help children understand and remember the message of Luke 8:45 is to play a game of "Who Touched Me?" Gather a group of children in a circle and blindfold one child, who will play the role of Jesus. The blindfolded child will stand in the center of the circle and the other children will quietly choose one child to gently touch Jesus (the blindfolded child) on the shoulder. After being touched, Jesus (the blindfolded child) will try to guess who touched them by listening to the voices of the other children. This activity can help children experience the moment when Jesus felt someone touch Him in the crowd and teach them about the importance of reaching out to Jesus for healing and help, even in the midst of a busy and crowded world.
Memory Verse or Rhyme
When Jesus asked, "Who touched Me?"
The disciples all denied, you see.
But Peter said, "Master, it's clear to see,
The crowds are pressing in, can't you see?"
Songs or Videos
A great Christian song for kids that relates to the message of Luke 8:45 is "Touch the Hem of His Garment" by Sam Cooke. This song beautifully captures the story of the woman who reached out to touch Jesus' garment and was healed. Another wonderful song is "He Touched Me" by Bill Gaither, which also speaks of the healing power of Jesus when we reach out to Him in faith. Both songs can help children understand the importance of reaching out to Jesus for healing and restoration.
