Lesson: Matthew 18:19 (Ages 9-11)
📖 Matthew 18:19 – Ages 9-11
Explanation
In Matthew 18:19, Jesus is telling us that when two people pray together and agree on something they ask for, God will answer their prayer. It's like when you and a friend both want to play a game together, and you both agree on which game to play. When you both agree, it's more fun because you both want the same thing.
When we pray with someone else and agree on what we're asking God for, it shows unity and teamwork. Just like how teamwork makes things easier and more fun, praying together with someone else can make our prayers stronger.
Jesus wants us to know that when we come together in prayer with a friend or family member and agree on something we're asking God for, He hears us and will answer our prayers. It's a special way for us to show love and support for each other, and to trust that God is listening to our hearts when we pray together in agreement.
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Lily who loved to play in her backyard with her best friend, a fluffy white bunny named Snowball. One day, Lily and Snowball wanted to have a big picnic with all their friends, but they didn't have enough food to share.
Remembering the verse from Matthew 18:19, Lily and Snowball decided to pray together for help. They asked God to provide enough food for everyone at the picnic. With faith in their hearts, they invited all their friends and waited.
Soon, neighbors started arriving, each carrying a dish to share. There was plenty of food for everyone, and they had the most wonderful picnic ever.
Lily and Snowball learned that when they prayed together and believed, God answered their prayers. Just like in the Bible verse, when two agree on something and ask God, He will provide.
Prayer Prompt

By agreeing in prayer and asking God for help and guidance together, they can trust that God hears their prayers and will answer them according to His will. Encouraging children to pray with others can strengthen their faith, build unity in relationships, and remind them of the importance of seeking God's help in all aspects of their lives.

One fun activity to help children understand Matthew 18:19 could be creating a prayer chain. Have the children write down their prayer requests on strips of paper, then link the strips together to form a chain. This can visually represent coming together in agreement in prayer.
