Lesson: Matthew 25:1 (Ages 9-11)
📖 Matthew 25:1 – Ages 9-11
Explanation
In this verse, Jesus is telling a story to help us understand what the kingdom of heaven is like. He talks about ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Imagine that the kingdom of heaven is like a big, exciting party thrown by God, who is like the bridegroom. The virgins are like us, waiting to join the party. They each have a lamp, which represents the light of their faith and goodness.
Five of the virgins were prepared with enough oil for their lamps to keep shining brightly. They were ready to meet the bridegroom whenever he arrived. But the other five were not prepared and ran out of oil. Their lamps started to dim.
So, when the bridegroom finally arrived, the five wise virgins were able to go into the party with him because they were ready and shining bright. But the five foolish virgins had to go buy more oil and missed out on the celebration.
This story teaches us the importance of being prepared and ready for when Jesus comes back. We need to keep our faith strong and our hearts pure, just like keeping oil in our lamps. By doing this, we can be joyful and welcomed into God's kingdom when the time comes. Let's make sure we are like the wise virgins, always ready to meet our loving Savior with bright, shining hearts!
Kid's Story
Once upon a time, there was a group of ten fireflies preparing for a special occasion. They each had a tiny lantern to light up the night when they met their friend, the glowing moon. Nine fireflies made sure their lanterns were full of light, but one firefly named Sparky was too busy playing and forgot to fill his lantern.
When it was time to meet the moon, the other fireflies' lanterns shone brightly, but Sparky's was dim. He felt sad and left out. The moon gently reminded Sparky of the importance of being prepared.
Just like the wise virgins in the Bible story, the fireflies needed to be ready for the special moment. Sparky learned that being prepared brings joy and allows us to shine bright when the time comes. And from that day on, Sparky always made sure his lantern was full, ready to light up the night sky.
