Galatians 5 (NMV)

Chapters: 1 2 3 4 5 6

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Listen! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.

Again I testify to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the entire law.

You who are trying to be made righteous by the law have been cut off from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

For we, through the Spirit, by faith, eagerly await the confident expectation of being fully made right with God.

For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value, what matters is faith expressing itself through love.

You were running well. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?

That kind of persuasion does not come from the One who calls you.

A little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough.

I am confident in the Lord that you will not take a different view. The one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he may be.

But brothers and sisters, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case, the offense of the cross has been removed.

I wish those who are disturbing you would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.

For the entire law is fulfilled in one statement: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.

I say then, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit what is against the flesh; they are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want.

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, unrestrained immorality,

idolatry, sorcery, hatred, discord, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, factions,

envy, drunkenness, pagan festivals filled with immoral behavior, and things like these. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

strength restrained in obedience to God, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk in step with the Spirit.

Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
