john 4 (NMV)
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
This is how you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.
But every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and is already now in the world.
You are from God, children, and you have defeated them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
They are from the world. That is why they speak from the world, and the world listens to them.
We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
The one who does not love has not known God, because God is love.
God's love was revealed among us in this way: He sent His only Son into the world so that we might live through Him.
This is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the sacrifice that satisfies justice for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
No one has ever seen God. But if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is made complete in us.
This is how we know that we remain in Him and He in us: He has given us His Spirit.
And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in them, and they in God.
And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in them.
In this, love is made complete among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world.
There is no fear in love. Instead, complete love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears has not been made complete in love.
We love because He first loved us.
If anyone says, "I love God," but hates his brother or sister, he is a liar. For the one who does not love his brother or sister whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.
And we have this command from Him: that the one who loves God must also love his brother and sister.
