1 thessalonians 1 (NMV)
1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.
2 We always give thanks to God for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers.
3 We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor motivated by love, and your enduring hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
4 For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that He has chosen you,
5 because our good news did not come to you in words only, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with full conviction, just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.
6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word with joy from the Holy Spirit in the midst of much suffering.
7 So you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.
8 For the word of the Lord rang out from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith in God has gone out, so we don't need to say anything.
9 For they themselves report about us what kind of reception we had from you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,
10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
