thessalonians 4 (NMV)
Finally then, brothers and sisters, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that just as you received instructions from us about how you must walk and please God, as you are already doing, you do so more and more.
For you know what commands we gave you through the authority of the Lord Jesus.
For this is the will of God: that you be made holy, that you stay away from sexual immorality;
that each of you know how to control your own body in holiness and honor,
not in lustful passion like the Gentiles [non-Jews] who do not know God.
And that in this matter no one wrong or exploit a brother or sister, because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we told you before and solemnly warned you.
For God did not call us to impurity, but to be made holy.
Therefore, anyone who rejects this is not rejecting a human authority, but God, who gives His Holy Spirit to you.
Now about brotherly love: you don't need us to write to you, because you yourselves are taught by God to love one another.
In fact, you are doing this for all the brothers and sisters throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so even more,
and to make it your ambition to live a quiet life: to mind your own affairs and to work with your hands, just as we commanded you,
so that you may behave properly toward outsiders and not be dependent on anyone.
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you will not grieve like the rest who have no confident expectation.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, then in the same way, through Jesus, God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep.
For this we say to you by a word from the Lord: that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will certainly not go ahead of those who have died.
For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
Therefore, encourage one another with these words.
