2 thessalonians 3 (NMV)

Chapters: 1 2 3

1 Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us, that the message of the Lord may spread quickly and be honored, just as it was among you.

2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith.

3 But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.

4 And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command.

5 May the Lord guide your hearts into the love of God and into the perseverance of Christ.

6 Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.

7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you.

8 Nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling, so that we would not be a burden to any of you.

9 Not because we do not have the right, but to offer ourselves as an example for you to imitate.

10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: If anyone is not willing to work, neither should he eat.

11 For we hear that some among you are living undisciplined lives, doing no work at all, but instead meddling in the affairs of others.

12 Now we command and encourage such people by the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work quietly and earn their own living.

13 But as for you, brothers and sisters, do not grow tired of doing what is good.

14 If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take note of that person and do not associate with them, so that they may feel ashamed.

15 Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as a fellow believer.

16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with you all.

17 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand. This is the mark of genuineness in every letter; this is how I write.

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
