2 timothy 2 (NMV)
1 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others also.
3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
4 No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.
5 Similarly, an athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.
6 The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops.
7 Think over what I am saying, for the Lord will give you understanding in all things.
8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descended from David, according to my good news.
9 For which I suffer pressure and hardship, even to the point of being chained like a criminal, but the word of God is not chained.
10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of those whom God has chosen, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.
11 This saying is trustworthy: If we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us;
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
14 Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good but only ruins those who listen.
15 Make every effort to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
16 Avoid godless chatter, for it will lead people further into unrestrained immorality,
17 and their message will spread like a disease. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18 who have departed from the truth by saying that the resurrection has already happened, and they are upsetting the faith of some.
19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and "Let everyone who names the name of the Lord turn away from unrighteousness."
20 Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some for honorable use, some for dishonorable.
21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses themselves from what is dishonorable, they will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work.
22 Flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 But have nothing to do with foolish and ignorant controversies; you know that they breed fights.
24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but must be fair-minded and considerate to everyone, able to teach, and patient when wronged.
25 He must correct those who oppose the truth with strength that is held back in humility, so that God may grant them a change of heart leading to knowledge of the truth.
26 and they may come to their senses and escape the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
