Colossians 3 (NMV)

Chapters: 1 2 3 4

If you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated, at the right hand of God.

Let the direction of your heart and your way of life be shaped by what is above, not by the things of the earth.

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Put to death, therefore, the parts of yourself that belong to your earthly life: sexual immorality, impurity, uncontrolled passion, evil and destructive desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. [because it craves more than God has given.]

Because of these things, God's settled and righteous anger is coming upon those who reject Him.

You too once walked in these ways, when you lived in them.

But now you must put away all of the following: anger, rage, intent to harm others, blasphemy, and obscene speech from your mouth.

Do not lie to one another, since you have completely stripped off your former self with its practices,

and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its Creator.

In this new self, there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, foreigner, Scythian, slave, or free: but Christ is all and is in all.

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with heartfelt mercy, kindness, humility, strength under control, and patience.

Be patient with one another and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint against someone. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so also must you forgive.

Above all these, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ settle the matter in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Let the message of Christ live abundantly among you, teaching and instructing one another with wisdom through Scriptures set to music, songs of praise, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Wives, put yourselves under the authority of your husbands, as is proper in the Lord.

Husbands, love your wives and do not grow bitter or resentful toward them.

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, so they do not become discouraged.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only when they are watching, to gain their approval, but with sincerity of heart, out of reverence for the Lord.

Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly, as if you were working for the Lord and not for people.

For you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

But the one who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no favoritism.
