peter 5 (NMV)

Chapters: 1 2 3 4 5

I urge the elders among you as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a sharer in the glory that is going to be revealed:

Shepherd God's flock among you, watching over them, not out of obligation, but willingly, as God desires; not for dishonest gain, but eagerly;

not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

In the same way, you who are younger, put yourselves under the authority of the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because "God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble."

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may lift you up at the proper time,

casting all your worries on Him, because He cares for you.

Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

Resist him, standing firm in the faith, knowing that your brothers and sisters throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.

Now the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore, establish, strengthen, and support you.

To Him be the power forever and ever. Amen.

Through Silvanus, whom I consider a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it.

She who is in Babylon, chosen along with you, sends you greetings, and so does my son Mark.

Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.
