Acts 3 (NMV)
Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, three in the afternoon.
And a man who had been lame from birth was being carried there. Every day they placed him at the temple gate called Beautiful, so he could beg from those entering the temple courts.
When he saw Peter and John about to enter the temple, he asked them for money.
Peter, along with John, looked straight at him and said, "Look at us."
So he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them.
But Peter said, "I don't have silver or gold, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!"
Then taking him by the right hand, he raised him up, and at once his feet and ankles became strong.
He jumped up, stood, and began to walk. He went into the temple with them, walking, leaping, and praising God.
All the people saw him walking and praising God,
and they recognized him as the one who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. So they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
While he was clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran toward them in astonishment to the area called Solomon's Colonnade.
When Peter saw this, he addressed the people: "Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this? Why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or godliness we made him walk?
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected in the presence of Pilate, even though he had decided to release Him.
You denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be released to you instead.
You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses of this.
By faith in His name, this man whom you see and know has been made strong. The faith that comes through Jesus has given him this complete healing in your presence.
And now, brothers and sisters, I know that you acted without fully understanding what you were doing, just as your leaders did.
But in this way God fulfilled what He had foretold through all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer.
So repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped away,
and that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus.
He must remain in heaven until the time comes for the restoration of all things, which God spoke about long ago through His holy prophets.
Moses said: 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to everything He tells you.
And everyone who does not listen to that prophet will be completely cut off from the people.'
Indeed, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, have also proclaimed these days.
You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And through your offspring all the families of the earth will be blessed.'
God raised up His servant and sent Him first to you to bless you by turning each of you away from your wicked ways."
