James 5 (NMV)

Chapters: 1 2 3 4 5

Now listen, you who are rich: weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you.

Your wealth has rotted, and your clothes are moth-eaten.

Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and consume your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.

Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Armies.

You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for the day of slaughter.

You have condemned and murdered the righteous person, who offered no resistance.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, be patient until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the valuable crop from the earth, patiently waiting for the early and late rains.

You too must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the coming of the Lord is near.

Brothers and sisters, do not complain against one another, so that you will not be judged. Look, the Judge is standing at the door!

Brothers and sisters, as an example of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

Look, we consider blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job's endurance and have seen the outcome from the Lord, that the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes and your "No" be no, so that you will not fall under judgment.

Is anyone among you suffering hardship? Let them pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let them sing praise.

Is anyone among you sick? Let them call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over that person, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.

And the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise them up. If they have committed sins, they will be forgiven.

Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Elijah was a human being just like us, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.

Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the earth produced its fruit.

My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you strays from the truth and someone turns them back,

let them know that whoever turns a sinner from the error of their ways will save them from death and cover a multitude of sins.
