timothy 3 (NMV)
This saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to be an overseer, they desire a noble work.
An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, self-controlled, wise, respectable, hospitable, and able to teach.
They must not be a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not argumentative, and not greedy for money.
They must manage their own household well and keep their children under control with dignity.
(For if someone does not know how to manage their own household, how will they take care of God's church?)
They must not be a recent convert, or they may become arrogant and fall under the same judgment as the devil.
Furthermore, they must have a good reputation with outsiders, so that they will not fall into disgrace and the trap of the devil.
In the same way, deacons must be dignified, not two-faced, not addicted to much wine, and not greedy for dishonest gain.
They must hold on to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.
They must also be tested first; if they are found to be blameless, then let them serve as deacons.
Likewise, women must be dignified, not slanderers, but self-controlled and faithful in everything.
A deacon must be the husband of one wife and manage their children and household well.
For those who have served well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these things
so that, if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.
And undeniably, the mystery of godliness is great: He was revealed in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
