timothy 6 (NMV)

Chapters: 1 2 3 4 5 6

All who are under the yoke as slaves should regard their own masters as worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered.

Those who have believing masters should not show them less respect because they are brothers and sisters. Instead, they should serve them even better, since those who benefit from their service are fellow believers and dearly loved. Teach and encourage these things.

If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the uncorrupted words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that promotes reverence for God,

they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy craving for controversy and disputes about words, which result in envy, strife, slander, evil suspicions,

and constant friction among people with corrupt minds who are deprived of the truth, imagining that reverence for God is a means of financial gain.

But reverence for God with contentment is great gain.

For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.

But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.

But those who want to be rich fall into temptation, a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. By craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

But you, man of God, flee from these things, and pursue righteousness, reverence of God, faith, love, endurance, and strength restrained in obedience to God.

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

In the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who made the good confession before Pontius Pilate, I charge you

to keep this command without fault or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God will bring this about in His own time. He is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,

who alone is immortal and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal power. Amen.

Instruct those who are rich in this present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.

Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share,

storing up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of what is truly life.

Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding irreverent and empty chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge.

By professing it, some have deviated from the faith. Grace be with you all.
