timothy 4 (NMV)

Chapters: 1 2 3 4 5 6

Now the Spirit clearly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,

through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

They forbid marriage and require abstinence from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

because it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished by the truths of the faith and the good teaching you have followed.

But reject irreverent and foolish myths. Instead, train yourself in reverence for God.

For physical training is of some value, but reverence for God is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

This saying is trustworthy and worthy of full acceptance.

That is why we labor and strive, because we have placed our confident hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

Command and teach these things.

Let no one look down on you because you are young, but be an example to the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.

Until I come, give your attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, and to teaching.

Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy when the elders laid their hands on you.

Practice these things; be committed to them, so that your progress may be evident to everyone.

Pay close attention to your life and your teaching. Persevere in these things, for by doing so you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
