Hebrews 2 (NMV)
Because of this, we must pay even closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.
For if the message delivered through angels proved to be valid, and every violation and disobedience received a just penalty,
how will we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? This salvation was first announced by the Lord and then confirmed to us by those who heard Him,
while God also testified to it by signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.
For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, the one we are talking about.
But someone has testified somewhere, saying: "What is man, that You remember him, or the son of man, that You care for him?
You made him for a little while lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor,
and subjected everything under his feet." For in subjecting everything to him, God left nothing that is not under his authority. But at present, we do not yet see everything subjected to him.
But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by God's grace He might taste death for everyone.
For it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom all things exist, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through suffering, in bringing many sons and daughters to glory.
For the One who makes people holy and those who are being made holy all come from the same source. That is why He is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters,
saying: "I will declare Your name to My brothers; I will sing praises to You among the congregation."
And again: "I will put My trust in Him." And again: "Here I am with the children God has given Me."
Since the children share in flesh and blood, He also became fully human, so that through His death He might destroy the one who holds the power of death, that is, the devil,
and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
For surely it is not angels He helps, but the descendants of Abraham.
Therefore, He had to be made like His brothers and sisters in every way, so that He could become a merciful and faithful High Priest in service to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
Because He Himself suffered when He was tested, He is able to help those who are being tested.
