Romans 5 (NMV)
Therefore, since we have been made right with God by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Through Him we also have access by faith into this grace in which we now stand, and we boast in the confident expectation of the glory of God.
And not only that, but we also boast in our pressure and suffering, because we know that pressure and suffering produce endurance;
and endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces confident expectation.
And confident expectation does not put us to shame, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
For while we were still weak, at the appointed time Christ died for the ungodly.
For rarely will someone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, having now been made right with God by His blood, we will be saved from wrath through Him.
For if, while we were enemies, we were restored to a right relationship with God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been restored, shall we be saved through His life!
And not only that, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received this restoration.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned.
For before the law was given, sin was in the world, but sin is not counted against anyone when there is no law.
Nevertheless, death ruled from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the same way Adam did, who is a pattern of the One to come.
But the free gift is not like the violation of God's command. For if many died through one man's violation, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
And the gift is not like the result of the one man's sin. For the judgment following one violation brought condemnation, but the gift following many violations brought being made right with God.
For if by the violation of God's command of the one man, death ruled through that one man, how much more will those who receive the overflow of grace and of the gift of being made right with God rule in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
So then, just as one violation of God's command brought condemnation to all people, so also one act of righteousness brought being made right with God and life to all people.
For just as through the disobedience of the one man many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man many will be made right with God.
Now the law came in so that violation of God's command might increase, but where sin increased, grace increased even more,
so that just as sin ruled in death, so also grace might rule through being made right with God, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
