Matthew 4 (NMV)
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desolate land to have be tested by the devil.
After He had abstained from food for forty days and forty nights, He was extremely hungry.
And when the devil came to Him, He said, "If You are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread."
But He responded, "It is written: 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'
Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, and stood him on the highest point of the temple,
And said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw Yourself down, for it is written: 'He shall command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.
Jesus said to him, "Again, it is written, 'You shall not test Lord your God.'"
Again, the devil took Him up to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world, and their splendor;
And said to Him, "All these things will I give You, if You fall down and worship me."
Then Jesus said to him, "Go away, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.'"
Then the devil left Him, and angels came and attended to Him.
Now when Jesus had heard that John had been imprisoned, he left for Galilee;
And leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which is along the sea coast, in the region of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
So that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, along the road by the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
The people living in darkness have seen a great light; and for those sitting in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.
From that time on, Jesus began to preach, and to say, "Turn from your former ways, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
As Jesus was walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
And He said unto them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of people."
Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.
Going on from there, He saw other two brothers, the James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with their father, Zebedee, mending their nets. And He called them.
Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed Him.
And Jesus went through all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
His fame spread throughout all of Syria, and they brought to Him all who were sick, those suffering from various diseases and severe pains, the demon-possessed, those with brain conditions [such as seizures, mental illness, and dementia], and the paralyzed, and He healed them
Large crowds followed Him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
